You favourite Foo Fighters song.

Postby Viazon » Nov 13, '13, 7:40 pm

Inspired by Tim's name change. Foo Fighters are probably my favourite band and I love many many of their songs. A personal favourite of mine though has to be Learn To Fly.

Monkey Wrench, The Pretender, Everlong, My Hero would all be up there for me.
Dave Grohl is an awesome song writer - check out the stuff on the Sound City Players CD - all tracks have Grohl on them in some capacity (Drumming or guitar or both). My personal favourites are Cut Me Some Slack (Remaining Nirvana members featuring Paul McCartney) and From Can to Cant (Corey Taylor, Grohl, Rick Nielsen, Scott Reeder).

Possibly Everlong. Or February Stars. They have a couple of good ones from the new album too - Rope and Walk are both particularly good.

The Colour & the Shape is by far their best album, followed by Nothing Left to Lose and Wasting Light. I find their other albums pretty middle of the road for the most part. So it's encouraging to see that a band that has been around for years can rally and bring out one of their best records several years in.

I would probably say that Everlong is my second favourite Foo Fighters song. When I saw them a couple of years ago they played it last and it just sounded right.

Aurora, Come Alive, and Everlong are probably my top three (in no particular order) but they're the kind of band that still has --IT--, and they can come out with a new song any day that could top those.

My wife and I went to a concert of theirs two years ago September, and we got so drunk and rocked out that night, it was awesome. Had to take a cab back to our hotel room. We had decent seats, about 30-40 rows back, nothing spectacular, and he ran through the crowd playing and got within 15 rows of us. I thought he was Jesus by that time, we were plowed.. haha.

It was so epic because they played for 2 hours, went backstage, and fired up this backstage cam when everyone was shouting for encore. Then Dave was like "How many songs should be play, Taylor?" and the crowd erupted and such, so you couldn't hear them talk anymore (and they knew it) so they started holding up fingers. Taylor held up 2, then Pat Smear held up 4, Nate held up 6, Chris held up 8, Dave held up 10. Then flashed 10 again, and again, and again, and Kansas City was just fucking exploding at this point, you could hear us from space. They came out and played FOUR FUCKIN' MORE HOURS. Six. Fucking. Hour. Show. My God.

Greatest concert I've ever seen.

The Foo Fighters concert I went to was an outdoor one. The weather was scorching and it gave me a huge head ache. I had big crowds and there were so many people pushing and shoving each other, which annoyed me to no end. Also, me and my friend were being pelted with bottles of piss from people behind us. It was still one of the best nights of my life.

They played for a good three hours or so. They did something very similar. When they finished and went of stage, Grohl appeared on the screen and kept holding fingers until he got to 5 and came out and played 5 more songs. Dave Grohl must have been wasted as well. Before everyone song he would down another beer, then burp very loudly into the mic.

Was quite a night.

While I was so exceedingly fucking bored as hell at work today the radio station did an update on a pearl jam concert that was in my area last night and it made me think of this post.

The DJ said that pearl jam played a fucking 45 song set list at the concert. 45 songs in a row!
They said they show closed with their newest single "sirens" (that I happen to really like BTW) then closed again with eddie doing a unplugged version of "Jeremy" with a fucking phenomenal crowd reaction.

Just thought I would share
