Do today's kids have it better or worse than when you were a kid?

Simple enough question. Today's children, do they have it better or worse than we did?

I'm eighteen, so I feel like in the beginning of my life I saw the last of the outdoor kids until the PS1/PS2 shit took over. I feel like my generation isn't as productive because we are spoonfed entertainment. My parents had to build their toys, shit came with a manual and was more complex to build, as opposed to popping in a disc or playing a game on your iPhone that gives you instant satisfaction.

I think kids these days have it worse. I think kids these days, are overly protected, like they can't be hurt or it is abuse, they can't be scolded or it is emotional abuse, teachers can't do a thing to a kid besides tell them to stop or a teacher can get fired. Kids are like the golden flakes that cannot be disturbed or else it will be irreversibly a mess.

They then feel entitled, they get what they want, they have technology to be more free (phones) and to entertain themselves without having to go out much. I just feel a lot of things are easier and handed to them.

Then they become young adults (still a kid to me) and then they have to take care of themselves and learn to live and they are all sorts of fucked because they don't know what to do. They don't know how to earn things, and just expect them to be given (college grades anyone?). Some get away with it due to the network their family is in, most have to grit their teeth and learn immediately.

This is all extreme generalization of course, many kids are raised right from very responsible parents, but I feel this is the general trend.

It should also vary widely based on where you grow up. This is a tough question to generalize as a whole.

I agree 100% with Kein, though I'm not sure if that would mean I vote easier or worse in the poll. Easier for the actual child, worse for the long run.

When I was a kid cell phones were just coming into play with most people and internet never really was taking off so were spent more time with friends outside. Now with all the technology stuff I hear from people that have kids in this era their kids are just on their phones, playing video games and spending less time with friends and more time with technology

I think kids today have less of a social life then when I was growing up. I remember everyday after school and for a few hours before our parents called us in to dinner we just hang out riding our bikes, playing hockey in the street and stuff like that. I hardly even see kids these days at the park down the street from my house anymore.
