I think kids these days have it worse. I think kids these days, are overly protected, like they can't be hurt or it is abuse, they can't be scolded or it is emotional abuse, teachers can't do a thing to a kid besides tell them to stop or a teacher can get fired. Kids are like the golden flakes that cannot be disturbed or else it will be irreversibly a mess.
They then feel entitled, they get what they want, they have technology to be more free (phones) and to entertain themselves without having to go out much. I just feel a lot of things are easier and handed to them.
Then they become young adults (still a kid to me) and then they have to take care of themselves and learn to live and they are all sorts of fucked because they don't know what to do. They don't know how to earn things, and just expect them to be given (college grades anyone?). Some get away with it due to the network their family is in, most have to grit their teeth and learn immediately.
This is all extreme generalization of course, many kids are raised right from very responsible parents, but I feel this is the general trend.
It should also vary widely based on where you grow up. This is a tough question to generalize as a whole.
