I mean I would hope so. I'm glad Lucas isn't in charge of writing it, which means less chance of stilted dialogue. But even so, if the prequels have proven anything, it's that the franchise will still make money by the bucket load, even if the film itself isn't particularly good.

I agree with you on this one. Keeping Lucas away is a good thing. And I hope to god there are no fucking ewoks or gungans.

I can understand being weary but I actually like Abrams.

Abrams is a very shallow kind of director though. He's not without talent, but with Star Trek: Into Darkness I think he showed that if you give him a beloved pop culture franchise he's likely to turn it into a forgettable blockbuster. The prequels had no soul compared to the original trilogy, which was one of the (many) major flaws with those films and possibly the biggest one. I sadly feel that Abrams might bring this exact same trait to the new movies.
On the flip side though, Disney being behind the film makes me optimistic because this is something they tend to be quite good at. So I'm not sure what to think of this project at the moment. I'm definitely curious, but at the end of the day Star Wars has only been good half of the time at this point. So it's not something I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt - I just hope it really does live up to the hype.
I really wish they had picked a different director though.

DEFINITELY NOT A COINCIDENCE
