A fair assessment?
If I was Lerner, I'd be conducting discreet work on Lambert's replacement. Identify potential names now because it might be that if Villa suffer more bad results that he might be gone at the end of the season. TBF, he has done a reliable job with the cost-cutting measures that Lerner has under-taken but his signings, for the majority of them, have been poor. For one good signing (Benteke), there have been a shit load of poor ones.
If Villa want to play a counter-attacking style then he needs more pace on the wings. Weimann has disappeared after a promising start. Guzan, Vlaar, Delph, Benteke. These four are the spine but need to build a team around them.
