^The point is that the seven people in your example are basically nameless and faceless victims. Nobody knows who they are, which makes it harder to feel anything for them. Celebrities are constantly in the public eye and everyone is aware of who they are, which creates a greater sense of connection.

Plus those seven people I am sure have countless people who are mourning their passing, just not on internet forums and TMZ

I hate to agree with "the bad guy" (aka Settee) but he's honestly sort of right. No one asks about the driver, no one asks about the Black Friday victims (though unless they're employees, I sorta think the shoppers deserve it - learn to ignore the machine, ya sheep), but no one cares much for victims of other tragedies unless they're celebrities.

I still hate that Paul Walker died, but I hate it when anyone dies. But you only hear about it when it's someone big. Like Walker. This should change.

As far as actors go, I've never heard a bad thing said about Paul Walker, so this sucks even worse. Sad to hear the news, and I hope they give him a fitting tribute in F/F7. RIP Paul

Westcoastvibes wrote:^wow, I understand where you are coming from but you are missing a key point when it comes to people caring about a celebrity passing away. Millions of people care about a celebrity death and show compassion because unlike some random guy on the street, people know who he is. They may not know him personally but they do know of him and most likely have some sorta connection with him threw his movies. Plus, what the fuck is wrong with people showing a bit of humanity?

This.

This is just the way the world is. If someone told me that some guy from the other side of the world who I don't know nor met before has died in a car crash, I wouldn't care. Now, granted I don't know nor have met Paul Walker either, but as westcoastvibes just stated, you feel some sort of connection to celebrities through their movies or their music or whatever it is they do, so I see no reason why people shouldn't feel sad about it when they don't care about random people they don't know. There may be people out there who really enjoyed his work in Fast and Furious and will miss him because of that. That random guy on the other side of the world who died? What does he have to offer that fan? What is he to him? That's the way it's always been.

You have to admit it is pitiful that people are more upset over Paul Walker dying than the 7 people who were killed on black friday. People care entirely too much about celebrities, and they definitely care too much about the wrong issues.

Sorry, but I bet your attitude would change if it was Daniel Bryan or CM Punk that had died.

I do feel bad for Paul Walkers family and friends, but I care more about the fact that people only care when someone dies if they are a celebrity. I hate the fact that there are tons of people out there who don't get the recognition they deserve just because they aren't famous. I care more about the 7 people that were killed over black friday sales than a movie star that had millions. It is a tragedy that Paul died, but just because someone is famous does NOT mean they are more important than anyone else.

I don't understand why people are upset that more people are mourning Paul Walker than Black Friday shoppers. Walker was famous, he had an impact on people's lives. The dude was an insane inspiration for those interested in cars and avid race fans, despite the fact that I'm neither of those.

It's strange to me how people think it's odd that a celebrity would be more mourned over than seven random people.
