10 Years since Eddie passed

Postby Str8Shooter » Nov 13, '15, 8:30 am

Not a great anniversary, Eddie Guerrero passed away on November 13, 2005 in Minneapolis. I remember being completely shocked by that one. Of all the wrestling deaths, that one really seemed to affect people more than most.

Share some of your favourite Eddie matches and memories in here.

Man, I'm lucky in that there really hasn't been a lot of death in my life. I think that's why 12 year old me had such a hard time understanding when all of a sudden Eddie wasn't around anymore. I remember not liking his mullet as a kid haha, once he cut that shit I managed to get on side and he became one of my favourites!

From the fun stuff with Los Guerreros and Team Angle, leaping out of bed the morning after No Way Out to watch his match with Brock Lesnar where he won the WWE title, which is one of my very favourite wrestling memories, I always remember his feud with JBL and the bullrope match at the Great American Bash.

I wasn't too smart back in the day so when he turned heel in 2005 I felt betrayed, that turn was really well done I think, this promo I think is still pretty great. I was just starting to sort of accept him back... and then he was gone. I miss Eddie.

My favorite feud of Guerrero's was definitely his feud with Mysterio towards the end of his career. My favorite moment was when he and Benoit celebrated winning the championships at Mania.

Can't believe it's been ten years! Just listened to todays talk is jericho with Malenko and Chavo paying tribute to Eddie, its a really good episode to hear some nice stories about Eddie. Can't help thinking about how well he would have done if he had't passed. He's definitely one of the best ever.

It's crazy that it's been ten years. Feels like it was just yesterday. I'll never forget the moment when I heard he had died.

Eddie's death was the first wrestling death that had an effect on me, having started watching wrestling from 2002 onwards. He was developing that heel character with Batista so nicely but still remember the Lesnar match at No Way Out fondly. RIP Eddie.

It is really sad that we lost someone so young. Eddie gave his heart to the fans every time he stepped into a wrestling ring. He is one of the best in my books he truly will be missed.

Eddie was my favorite wrestler of all time. It was by far the hardest hitting celebrity death for me. I know I never met him so it's kind of weird, but I felt like I lost something inside of me when it happened. A lot of kids have heroes growing up, and as a Hispanic kid I didn't get to see a lot of positive portrayals of my people on TV. They were always the thug, gangster, so on and so forth. I always felt hated on the news, and wasn't treated very well by many people. I lived in a pretty "country" town where nonwhites weren't very welcome by a lot of people. I don't know where I'm going, I guess I'm just trying to say that having Eddie made me feel a bit less isolated, like I could become something. I hope he knew he inspired a lot of kids like me to believe in themselves and to be proud of what they were. Anyway yeah... I don't know where that come from. :lol

He will be forever missed.

I can't believe it's been 10 years, I was 14 and it really shocked me. I remember seeing it on wwe.com and then checking all the wrestling news sites as I was convinced it was a storyline. One of the saddest wrestling deaths in history in my opinion.
