The Packers are the most mentally weak good team ever

Postby Everlong » Nov 09, '15, 10:27 am

They simply can't play on the road against teams that don't suck ass. Not only that, but they get flat out embarrassed by good teams on the road.

This is a direct result of McCarthy's coaching. The Packers will never again win a Super Bowl with McCarthy unless they get homefield advantage in the playoffs, which they can't get if they're incapable of beating good teams on the road.

Don't even get me started on this defense.

The Packers are wasting the prime years of one of the best QBs the game has ever seen because they're fucking soft mentally and because they don't have the balls to can Capers and bring in someone who can actually create a defensive scheme worth a damn.

And the most frustrating part is that fans of other teams are like HURRR DURRR PACKERS FANS ARE ENTITLED, TRY DEALING WITH A SHITTY TEAM, BE GRATEFUL FOR WHAT YOU HAVE. Fuck you, fuck that argument. This is a team that's won one title in 17 years when we should have at least three or four with the kind of talent we have. Hell, we should have won at least three in Rodgers' time in Green Bay so far. The Packers may be regularly good, but it's painful to watch them be unable to compete with top tier competition year in and year out because they're about as emotionally solid as a Taylor Swift relationship.

What good is winning 12 games a year when know you're going to get embarrassed in the playoffs anyway? At least if we'd lose a bunch of games we could guarantee there'd be some shakeups in the staff, but McCarthy and Thompson are too arrogant to admit that what they've got going on is anything less than perfect. And that attitude is reflected in the team. Rodgers refuses to take any blame for poor play (granted he played pretty well yesterday, but he was ass against Denver and deflected all the blame to his receivers). We've had tons of incidents of players on the team saying "X team didn't beat us, we lost the game."

Fuck that attitude. This is a winning team filled with a bunch of losers because they don't have the right mindset and it's painful to watch every season knowing it's going to end in exactly the same way: a beatdown by an actual good team and then a press conference with Rodgers/McCarthy smirking and saying "lul we'll get em next year no worries we're the Packers we're better than u"

That's my rant.

LOL, sorry man. I think my favorite part of your rant was spending most of it saying we're better than everyone, but we are soft and beat ourselves and then being pissed at players that say they beat themselves.

This is part of the frustration for me, it's like, I'm not even allowed as a fan of a team that regularly wins to vent any frustration because people will inevitably be like "you have it good shut up" and not even listen to valid complaints.

I'm not saying the Packers are better than everyone. That's the entire point of this post. They win a lot of games, so sure, maybe they're better in the win/loss column, but the fact is that year in, year out they win a lot of games but get shown up by teams that are ACTUALLY good that actually have a winning mentality.

What I'm saying is that the Packers players and coaches seem to have this mentality that they're better than everyone, not just in the W/L column but that they're above criticism. And it's a big part of why they constantly flame out at the end of every year.

How is that sentence not a bit self entitled? You are complaining because you have been in contention for a Super Bowl many times, but choked. You have a right to bitch, but don't act like we don't have more to bitch about. Detroit fans have watched our team go 50 years with out even sniffing a championship and have 1 playoff win in that time span. Our situations are not comparable. I had to sit through a win-less year and countless shitty GMs. While you get to pay good money for a good product on the field, we have had to pay good money to constantly get punched in the nuts. You have a right to complain as much as anyone, but don't act like you don't have it better then us. Try losing your franchise like Browns' fans, try being a loser of a franchise for 50 years like Lions fans, or try being unsure if you will have a team next year like the Rams currently. You have had two of the greatest QBs in history play back to back for you, so yes, fuck you a little bit that small town Wisconsin gets to have a functional NFL franchise while I watched my hometown team float into oblivion.

Tim, I like you as a man, but you are just wrong on this issue. Packers' fans are a bit self entitled and have a right to be because of their success. No, they aren't Pats fans by any means, but imagine listening to that shit from our side of things.

Oh no, you are allowed to vent frustration. I am in no way denying you that right. Go ahead. I just thought those two pieces of your rant didn't make a lot of sense is all.

Because I'm not saying, nor do I believe, that they deserved to win them. I'm saying that with the talent they've had they should have, but haven't because they're typically mentally weak and reading their own press clippings.

It's only entitlement if you believe you deserve more than what you've earned. The Packers haven't earned it. I'm pissed because they have had the talent to do so but fail over and over again because they simply can't play big time competition.

Also, once again, what annoys me about your comment @DBSOT is that you're basically turning it around and making it about your team when they're completely different situations. I'm not saying that I have it worse as a fan than fans of other franchises. They're completely isolated forms of frustration. But like I said, I hate that as a fan of a fairly successful team you can't even complain about a single thing without Lions/Browns/Raiders/Bills/etc. fans saying "stfu you have it so good."

As I mentioned twice in my original post, you have a right to complain. What you don't have is the right to call out fanbases that have endured way worst. You started your post rightfully complaining about the Packers soft mental state and then randomly started ranting about how other fanbases call you entitled. Entitled may not be the right word, but Packers fans are for sure spoiled. Again, this doesn't mean you don't have the right to complain, it means fans of struggling teams are going to be less tolerant to listen to what you are complaining about. If you were homeless and a guy walks up to you and says "I can't believe I only made a million dollars once", your not likely to have much sympathy for that person. It is the same situation here. You can complain all you want, but don't be surprised when someone who has much less, has a bit of a "fuck you" attitude. Also, this goes both ways. From my point of view, I have to listen to people say that I have no idea what I am talking about because I have never seen good football or that I can't judge other teams because I support a losing franchise. I went to the NFL draft the year after the Lions went 0-16, imagine the people that I had to interact with in NYC. I consider myself a draftnik, someone who spends too much time studying players and I had to listen to people dismiss my opinions because of the team I support.

Re: The Packers are the most mentally weak good team ever

So I got thinking about this rant and I also think there's another important factor to remember. Almost every relatively good team in the NFL could say the same thing and that's how the NFL designs it. You say that the Packers should have won three Super Bowls in Rodgers' time alone. Rodgers began starting for the Packers in 2008, that's seven seasons ago. I'm sure Manning or Brady fans are thinking the same thing about their team and their quarterback. There's only one team that's won two Super Bowls in the same time period the Giants and none that have won three. That's how the NFL wants it, they have a league filled with parody and no Super Bowl dynasties. The closest thing the NFL has are divisional championship dynasties, but once you get to the elite level the idea is that the elite teams are all so close in competition that nobody can run away with it. All the elite teams get their turn with the Lombardi trophy and almost nobody gets a second turn with it.

Your problem isn't so much with the Packers as it is with the NFL system, but that system is also what makes the NFL the most popular sport in America and gives fans for teams across the country that this year will be their year every year. That system isn't changing.
