My dentist was nagging me to start flossing the other week so I decided to give it a go, I got a hold of some floss, a "waxed" variety that supposedly makes things go more smoothly. It took me some time to really nail down a solid way to position my hands to actually do the flossing motion, either ham-fisting the floss or wrapping it so tight around my finger tips they went purple.
Settling on a consistent length of floss to hold was a struggle, it was either so little that maneuvering became difficult or so much that the floss became slack and wouldn't work. After some light research I introduced a thumb to the situation which made the floss taut enough to get the job done while retaining the motility needed for expedient flossing.
Still not sure if I actually did it right but there was some bleeding which I'm going to assume means I'm going in the right direction at least, the whole ordeal took over half an hour though a lot of that was dealing with the teething problems of first time flossing. I think I've got the knack of it now so we'll see how long it takes tomorrow.
