Well I'm born and raised Canadian but my dad's side of the family and a good chunk of my mom's side are of french descent. North Americans like to cheer for the teams from the countries they trace their lineage to. Where I live people don't differentiate between Quebec, France and Northern New Brunswick so they just lump everyone together so I feel a spiritual bond with the France French. French people are really not popular in parts of Alberta but I guess that's what you get when most of the people here seem to be descended from Eastern Europe, the UK and Germany.

I was even fluent in French for most of my so far young life but I've lost A LOT of it over the last couple years. My dad came from French Canada(not Quebec) and was fluent in it as well. I can still read it well enough and can understand what others say with little problem but speaking it has become hard.

That's fair enough, but does that movie trope mean that the "built to succeed" guy can't ever be better? In this case I feel he is.
