Windows 10

Postby PorkChop » Aug 06, '15, 7:18 pm

Windows 10 and has been getting some mixed reviews from what I've seen - what does everyone think? For me, it has all the makings to be the best OS ever... if it weren't for a few rather annoying problems I've had with it since I installed it last week.

I have a Windows phone, and it was great synchronising everything between my PC and phone on 8.1. It made life pretty easy for me. However, since upgrading to W10, my Mail app won't display messages at all (even when I know I've been emailed, as my phone says so) and the Calendar app doesn't show any appointments, when I have plenty lined up. My email, calendar and contacts are a complete blank slate, even though I can see them on my phone and through a browser, just not in the actual Mail, Calendar and People apps which Microsoft provide.

After several failed attempts to get it working and showing the right information, I eventually contacted Microsoft. After nearly 2 hours of them remote controlling my desktop, they can't sort it either and now the 'level two research engineers' are going to have a crack at it.

What are your thoughts on Windows 10? Has anyone else had any problems?

Not had any problems with it so far. Runs much better than 7, looks pretty good. Apart from some one or two aesthetic nitpicks, I've been enjoying it.

The only thing that has really bothered me is the touchpad driver on my laptop. It updated and now I can only use two finger scrolling, which pisses me off. They expect me to use two fingers worth of effort? It's not a bloody woman for christ sake!

You better hope it's not a bloody woman.

I'm not in any kind of a rush to jump over to Win10. Like I said (or meant to say, fuck going back to check what I actually said) in the thread I made about it a week or so ago, I really like the look of the UI and that is something that would make me want to switch over but I can't be bothered at the moment.

There are a few things that will make me want to actually make the leap, namely the new Win10 exclusive games like Gears of War Ultimate Edition and Killer Instinct, when games start supporting DirectX 12 I'll need Win10 for that and I believe the ability to wirelessly connect an Xbox One controller will be limited to Win10 as well.

As for now, though, it seems there are a few bugs/niggling issues that make me think waiting a few months is the smart choice. All things considered it's only a matter of time before I'm using it though.

If it's a bloody woman you might be using too many fingers.

This both disgusted me and made me chuckle uncontrollably.

If you're using too many fingers, I suggest finding a new woman.

I've just upgraded to Windows 10 for work and besides a brief glimpse, not impressed as it keeps booting me out of a remote serve we use.

What's worth checking out?

I've been tempted to upgrade but I've held off. Mainly worried about any bugs/glitches it may bring.

So even worse than 8? Why the fuck do they insist on panels. It's a major reason I hate my new xbox. Could they make it any harder to fucking navigate the console and find shit? Guess I'll be keeping 8... We don't want your fucking panels Microsoft!
