Iced Coffee

Postby SlightlyJames » Jul 31, '15, 7:38 am

So on a whim last night I thought I'd like to try making Iced Coffee. I did a quick search online to find a method and I found a pretty simple one that seems weird but doable so I did it anyway.

I made like 3 cups worth of coffee with just enough water to make it soluble, shook that sumbitch around in my sports shaker cup thing (I think it melted a little, not sure if I'm supposed to put boiling water into it) before leaving it in the fridge.

Now this morning what I've done is get a big ol glass of milk and I poured in some of my intense coffee stuff with a couple o' ice cubes, it's pretty nice and I don't know if it's just placebo because obviously I made it to be like this rather than making coffee and letting it cool down but this is quite nice.

At the same time though I can't shake the feeling that this is a weird fucking way to do this. Was my recipe thing talking shit? How would you make it?

My wife usually makes a pot of coffee and if I want some iced, I just poor it hot into a huge cup of ice. Half the ice melts and the rest keeps it cold. Then I add milk and sweetener as needed. Creamer and sweetener tends to coagulate on top but that don't bother me none, son.

I saw iced coffee in a shop once and thought it was the dumbest thing in the world. Then some people started telling me how nice it actually is. So I thought, fair enough. I suppose you shouldn't judge it until you have tried it. I am not particularly big of coffee as it is so I am not really interested in trying iced coffee.

Usually I have had iced coffee that are sweet. Make it strong, pour it on ice, add condensed milk.

Usually has to be strong so when you cool it off on ice it melts and dilutes it. Your way works refrigerating it but lets be honest, who wants to wait for a coffee to get cold in the fridge if you wanted it now?

I'm not a big coffee fan, and generally will only ever consume coffee IF it's iced. Just sayin'.

Well think about it this way, make it in bulk and prep time for each serving drops immensely. Who wants to wait for a kettle to boil when you can just walk to the fridge and pour it right away?
