Cecil The Lion successfully hunted and killed by Walter Palmer

Postby AkydefGoldberg » Jul 28, '15, 3:06 pm

So a dentist from Minnesota paid $55,000 for the "honour" of killing Cecil The Lion.

Have to say, caught this trending on Twitter as had no idea the prominent of this lion but to read someone paid that amount to do THAT, just makes it awful and disgusting.

A lion in Zimbabwe which had an all black mane and lived in the Hwange national park. He was apparently very popular but was recently murdered by an American dentist.

Yeah, im think8ng whomever took the money and acted as his guid is to blame. People pay all the time to have exotic hunts in africa, if the lion was a local celebrity then the guide should have known and said something.

I'll try using that defense if I ever pay to have someone killed. Apparently exchanging money absolves you of any moral or legal repercussions :P .

I can't put into words how sad and disgusted I am. It's difficult to believe that someone could do that to an animal.

From what I understand this guy has a history of illegally hunting exotic animals and has even plead guilty before for an incident.

I have never understood the point of these kinds of of huntings. As a means of survival and for food I've never had a problem with, but I'm absolutely disgusted by this and I'll never understand why this even was allowed to be done in the first place.

Someone killed? Are lions humans now? Oh dear.

Yeah I agree that he's a cunt for killing the lion but it's the guide that let him kill this one. So tbh I blame the guide for this one more than I blame the dentist. Fuck the guy for doing trophy hunting though just hunt big game if you want the thrill lol.

The guide should have known how valuable this lion was and how liked he was but that didn't stop him at all letting this guy kill him. What's saddening, is that they struck him first and after he hid away, they lured him out with a dead prey, then shot him.

I have a problem with this way of thinking. Nobody actually needs to hunt and kill animals to survive anymore. Excluding those crazy-ass mountain men who live off the grid, nobody is actually forced to hunt animals in order to get food on their plate. You also don't need to hunt and kill animals if you just want meat, because any person who wants meat can go to a supermarket or local market place to purchase it. I don't like people excusing hunting because "they're using the animal for food." Is it really that much better than trophy hunting? You think the animal is going to give two shits that you ate it after killing it? It's dead either way. I don't understand this moral line that almost everybody has created between hunting and trophy hunting. I honestly don't see much of a difference. Everybody always says that if you hunt an animal but don't use any of the resources you've obtained from the dead animal, you "wasted" it, but you've interfered with the natural order of things by killing that animal instead of it continuing to live out there eating prey, or becoming prey to another creature. What's the fucking difference if you cooked it afterwards or not?

I'm not even against hunting. I'm definitely for it, and I've done it myself. It's a fun experience. But I'm tired of people trying to hide behind the excuse that they're killing the animal "to survive." No, you're not. You're hunting animals because you want to, plain and simple. Just admit it. I can buy venison steaks, but I enjoy the thrill of hunting and doing all the prep myself. There. Why can't people just say that instead of pussyfooting around with this "I hunt to survive" crap?
