Banks/Lynch put on a wrestling clinic

Postby Messiah » May 20, '15, 10:41 pm

How is there not a thread up about this match yet?

I knew the match was going to be good but even that surpassed my expectations. was always a fan of Lynch, but man she turned it up a notch tonight. Banks was the fucking Boss as usual. The psychology was top notch. I loved the fact that both of them were targeting the arm with the goal in mind of being able to lock in their submission at the end. It was stiff as fuck. Seriously, there were moments where I said to myself, "wow, how is Lynch not legitimately hurting there?" That is a sign of great wrestling. The selling towards the end was spec-fucking-tacular.

That was the best women's match NXT has put on so far, by far the best match tonight on what was a very good show, and at year's end, I truly think it should be in contention for Match of the Year. I really thought that highly of it. Literally the only thing that hurt it was the fact that Banks winning was too predictable. She was never going to lose. Still, predictability isn't a bad thing. That match was flawless.

I mean, I'm not the only one who was absolutely in love with it, right?

When Banks stepped down on Lynch's arm.. ouch!

Oh and when Banks double knee'd Lynch's arm when Lynch was trying to stop her from doing it to her ribs, just brilliant. I LOVE YOU SASHA.

The stepping on the arm was a title Bryan Danielson move.

Loved Becky Lynch since I first saw her in SHIMMER years and years ago, so I was delighted to see her put it all together in this match. It was fucking tremendous, the best match on the show, and a legit MOTYC. It wasn't just good for a women's match, it was a fucking fantastic match, full stop.

The ovation at the end was well deserved, and the Becky sold the shit out of the loss, not just the injured arm, but she look devastated that she lost, which played into the story they were selling going into the thing. The crowd singing her theme music in support was also excellent.

It was probably the best women's match I've ever seen.

That was great, seeing the progression from the super-intense face she had at the start of the match to the facial expressions she had at the end.

It's great how at the last two NXT live specials the women have stole the show. It really shows how much the female workers in NXT are respected. This is also highlighted by the fact that the Womens title also headlined a recent NXT live show. How long it will take this to translate onto the main show is beyond me but it's great to see it happening on NXT anyway.

It's also awesome how important NXT make everything on the show. Balor/Breeze, the womens match and the main event felt like huge matches. From the entrances, the way they were presented and even the build leading into the matches. It's been ages since we have seen WWE do just the simplest of things to make their matches feel more important on their main roster.

The match itself was awesome, easily one of the matches of the year. The psychology was great, the action was extremely stiff and both women honestly looked like they were in extreme pain at times, especially Becky. It made both Sasha and Becky look like a million bucks. The match was a great representation for NXT and the title!

Easily match of the night and yeah, if Joe hadn't made his debut there'd absolutely be more talk of how fucking awesome that was. What I love most about NXT is we're talking about phenomenal wrestling matches afterwards with genuine passion about it rather than being pleasantly surprised when a Woman's match isn't terrible. It's bittersweet for me watching them put on these absolute clinics and, as you guys have already rightly pointed out, genuine match of the year contenders, but knowing that when they 'graduate' to the main roster they'll be terribly underused and under-appreciated.

I was a Sasha Banks fan already because she's the maaaaaafuckin' bossssssss but last night I think I became a huge Becky Lynch mark, she sold beautifully, worked tirelessly and looked like a million dollars in defeat. Banks psychology was terrific as usual. I'll tell you something else that is insane in the grander scale of things in WWE, Banks and Lynch main-evented an NXT house show the other weekend. I'd pay to see those two main event any show, it's just crazy to think about how little these guys will be used when they get to the main roster. The times they are a' changin and I can't wait.

I'll also throw in a compliment to Charlotte for being naturally superb and Bayley because I love Bayley more than life itself.

They were fantastic, and the match was everything a title match should try for on a big show. Loved it.

And I'd agree about the finish being expected, but in the end, I think it was right - I mean, I was looking forward to seeing them wrestle before the show, but I'm so hyped for anything they do together now! Will they head straight into more feud? Will Becky take a little time off? Who'll be the next No 1 contender? I'm so fucking intrigued!

I saw, I liked, and I want more!

It was a very good match, and the best of the night by a wide margin. Both performers gave it their all and really made the championship look important. Sasha won clean, putting her over huge as a credible heel champion, yet they kept Lynch looking great and fans will be salivating at the prospect of a rematch between the two somewhere down the line. This was handled just right, by both the bookers, the agent and particularly the people in the ring.

Loved the selling of the arm by both women. The exchange of quick pin attempts at the start was great. Sasha's various double knee strikes looked sick. Lynch's counters out of Banks' submission were clever. And I loved that Lynch stayed in the ring afterwards to sell her disappointment at being defeated. If it were a John Cena or Triple H title match they'd be smirking like assholes to try and make themselves look tough, but she was in the ring crying and looked 100 times better as a result. Moments like that are what make great faces. More people should be willing to show emotion following defeat.

Loved this. Love the NXT's women division in general. I almost feel offended when they're referred to as Divas now. Don't use that shitty nickname for this group of genuinely talented performers.

That was an incredible match. Not just a Diva match but incredible match in general. Maybe the best match overall I've seen in 2015.

The title confused me for a second because of what's happening with banks and Attorney General Loretta Lynch. I thought, "Well that's a really unorthodox way to deal with this."
