Why oh why do politicians have to make their main arguments about what goes in and what comes out when it comes to sexual activities (and the results thereof)? *sigh*

We got more important shit to worry about, you fuckwits! And this pretty much goes for BOTH parties. They're both more concerned with how much money they make and who is sucking who's.. parts.

The reason Republicans care so much is simple. Without religous conservatives they wouldn't win another election in this country. People smarted up to the fact that their economics are horrible for 95% of the country, so now they only hold on to the last straw they have left.

Yeah, @The Legend has it right, it's basically all a marketing ploy to appeal to the far right religious sector of the party. But as more and more of the country moves in favor of supporting gay rights, these stances just make the Republican party look out of touch.

It's more about having all their bases covered. The Republican economic policy speaks to affluent communities in suburban America. Those people also will overlook gay rights to protect their large economic interests. thos communities can't carry an election however, but if open up the gay rights discussion, you also bring in people who are stout believers in the bible belt and the deep south that care more about their religion than anything else.

Politicians want to remain in power so they will support the ideals of those who give them that power.
