Wwe needs to focus the major storlines around interest of its key demographics. The point of this is that the key demographics in this case would be the American households as america makes up its strongest group of viewers.
Going into wrestlemania wwe is going to throw its biggest hooks out in the water in attempts to catch the most viewers it can, that mean if they have to pull the american patriotism card then they will.
I don't know though, is this really good business? Sure, America is their biggest market. But is this patriotism stuff over enough in America to make up for the people it puts off in other countries? I really don't think so. I reckon this Rusev v Cena feud was actually going stronger before they started bringing US vs Russia into it.
Besides, if there's any time in the year that WWE should be thinking global, it's with Wrestlemania. Even many of those at attendance at Wrestlemania won't be American. There's always a large crowd that travels from elsewhere in the world.
