Yeah, that's true. But I think a lot of why these things worked with Hogan is because wrestling was a lot newer and people hadn't seen as much. With Hogan the company could get away with just stacking up a much larger opponent against him. That was enough to make him look vulnerable. Nowadays, we've seen enough David vs Goliath confrontations that this will never be enough for us to see someone as the underdog. We've seen Great Khali being beaten by guys literally half his size. The way the characters respond to things is a lot more important now.
