Backstage problem with Lesnar at Raw?

Postby Str8Shooter » Feb 24, '15, 10:50 am

http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/wwe/Backstage_Talk_on_Problems_with_Brock_Lesnar_at_Last_Night_s_WWE_RAW.html

As noted, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar was backstage at last night's RAW in Nashville but not used. On Sunday night, Paul Heyman tweeted that he and Lesnar would be appearing on RAW and WWE's Twitter, plus social media accounts were advertising Lesnar as late as 7:30pm EST.

Word from Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is that there is more to the story on why Lesnar didn't appear last night but we don't have details yet.

Meltzer indicated that there is a situation developing and WWE officials don't want it getting out yet. It was added that that "something happened" at RAW but no other details are available yet but we will keep you updated.

Interesting. If this is as big as he it sounds like it could be, it should make for an interesting few days. Anyone want to partake in some wild speculation about what it is?

He probably told WWE last night he's returning to UFC.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was something to do with him returning to the UFC.

Frank Mir knocked out Bigfoot Silva on Sunday night and declared his interest in a trilogy with Lesnar. Mir and Lesnar fucking hate each other. I wouldn't be surprised if this turned Brock's head somewhat.

I'd imagine it might be to do with money/dates. If he was there, the only reason he might not want to appear if there was some problem with the dates he's scheduled or money conflict. But, yes, think a UFC return or discussions what he's doing post-WM31 might be causing problems.

I don't think it is him informing them he's returning to UFC. I really think if that happened, it would have been leaked by now because I would imagine Brock would have told more than just the WWE. Dana White for example would know and then UFC insiders find out and so on and so forth.

It appears that Brock Lesnar was set to appear on the show until a rewrite at the last minute opted to not use one of his dates. The issue is Lesnar was already backstage and it is well-documented he hates traveling, so I can't imagine that he was all too pleased about going all the way out there for them to tell him nevermind. Maybe Brock got pissed, heated exchange, etc. Brock wanted to be paid claiming that was them using one of his dates. That seems pretty likely.

I read some suggestions that Brock maybe angry that Sable is not being inducted into the hall of fame. I could see that or WWE's petty ass is mad because he is ditching them again for UFC.

Yeah without any specifics being reported it's hard to take this too seriously. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's related to UFC.

Because Lesnar is their champion and probably their biggest draw?

There are [unsubstantiated] rumors going around all over the internet right now that Lesnar walked out of RAW on Monday because Roman Reigns failed a wellness test and WWE swept it under the rug to protect him.

Highly doubt this is true, but can you imagine if it was? Yowza.

While it is shitty that it was swept under the rug, I'm not sure why Lesnar would be so pissed about that? He's a short-timer at this point anyways, you only have one more match...why would that affect him?

Yeah I read that story and I have significant doubts about it's accuracy. Why would Lesnar get so pissed off about Reigns failing the drug test that he would walk out? It doesn't seem like a Lesnar thing to do. Supposedly because it would hurt his UFC standing? That doesn't make sense. Why would anyone tar him because his opponent failed a test?

This doesn't make sense to me. If the WWE were protecting certain guys against being suspended under the drug/steroid plan why would they just not test that person in the first place?

Well we know for a fact that they have protected guys in that way in the past, for what it's worth. Benoit failed 3 tests and it was brushed under the rug each time.

True, but it was also a different era as well, where nobody took the policy seriously. Now the WWE at least puts on a face that they care about it and will suspend guys. Here's what I'm meaning though. I think it's pretty evident that John Cena is unlikely to be able to straight pass a wellness test. He hasn't been mentioned in the past as having tests swept under the rug. I think the assumption is he just never has to take a test. I don't know why they would have Roman take a test at this point in time considering what's on the line for them and the fact that they control who has to take the test and when.

I reached out to WWE today regarding the rumor. I already suspected there was nothing to this (and we usually ignore such rumors), but given the huge play it has gotten via social media, I wanted to give the company a chance to respond to this sea of ridiculousness.

WWE's official statement:

"That story is absolutely, 100% untrue."

So, there you have it folks. Paul McCartney isn't dead...and Roman Reigns didn't fail a Wellness test.

So much for that.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree. It wouldn't benefit them to test him and I doubt they'd be ethical enough to do it anyway.

Also, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who believes that Cena can't possibly be passing these wellness tests. If they were actually forcing him to take part in this program, he'd deflate like Hulk Hogan in WCW.
