Indy Wrestlers To Look Out For

Postby EmperorWu » Feb 11, '15, 6:38 am

I've never really gotten around to watching much of the indy stuff but I want to make an effort to find out who and what's out there. So who are your favorite guys? I'd also love to hear some predictions on who you believe will be a top guy in the future. Who get's your seal of approval to one day main event in the WWE or become huge in general?

My knowledge is extremely limited...

Kenny Omega - This guys is a monster character wise. He is the personification of living in your character from what little I've seen. I know he was in OVW like a decade ago, and even heard he turned the WWE down a couple of times after. I hope he gives them another shot, I would fucking love to see him in NXT. He could be the biggest guy there. Of course the odds are high they'd ruin him once he got to the main roster.

Rich Swann
Ricochet
ADAM COLE BAYBAY!
Johnny Gargano
The Young Bucks
Kyle O'Reilly

They pretty much own the independents right now.

There there's people like Joey Ryan and Candice LeRea. Chuck Taylor is the best. Willie Mack is very entertaining. ACH is good, Cedric Alexander. The Briscoe's have slowed down a bit and aren't nearly as good as they were a few years ago, but they're still entertaining in their own way.

You can't go wrong really with anyone from PWG.

Zack Sabre Jr is my favourite independent wrestler working today and has been for a long long time. I'll try find it online later but he had arguably the best match of 2014 with Prince Devitt at a PROGRESS show - he's just a superb technical wrestler seemingly incapable of working a bad match.

I'll echo Ricochet, too. He's working as Prince Puma for Lucha Underground right now and is one of the very best in the world. He actually had a try-out for WWE last year but for whatever reason it didn't work out which was a shame.

Shinsuke Nakamura is someone I'm certainly devoted to checking out further. I need to familiarize myself with this dude's back catalogue because I watched him at Wrestle Kingdom and he blew me away. If anyone has any recommendations please let me know.

Daz has pretty much covered the bases but to name one or two more from Europe; Martin Kirby, Will Ospreay, I wanted to say Drew Galloway but he's signed with TNA now (did Mark Andrews sign with them as well? pretty sure he won that boot camp show but I'm not 100%)

Oh and AJ Styles lolol.

Yes Mark Andrews is with TNA now, he's appeared on the past 2 episodes of Impact! teaming with Spud against Tyrus/EC3.

I will admit that it's only been over the past year or so that I've really started taking a real interest in the indies, mainly the British circuit, so I'm far from an expert. Noam Dar is one of my absolute favourites, at just 21 years old I think he has bags of talent, definitely one to watch for the future. Nikki Storm is another favourite of mine, would love to see her make it big one day. Scotland seems to have an abundance of talent at the moment.
