For the lazy:

1. United States
2. Mexico
3. Brazil
4. Canada
5. South Korea
6. Germany
7. United Kingdom
8. Spain
9. Saudi Arabia
10. Australia
11. Argentina

Interesting results. I'd have expected the UK to be higher, and probably would have guessed Canada to be number two.

On the one hand, it'd geographically make much more sense than putting a team in London.

On the other hand, the country's economy and government are fucking terrible, so it might not be particularly wise.

I wish they just would refrain from adding any new teams at all, but it's only a matter of time.

I'm surprised Canada is #2, I read last week that something like 8 millions Canadians tuned it at some point to the Super Bowl. Our population is only 32 mil or so. It had more viewers than the Grey Cup game which pissed me off.

It's not, it's number four.

In our defense we only have around 35 million people. Brazil has 203 million people while Mexico has 121 million people. Canada is listed with 7.21 million fans compared to Brazil with 19.7 million and Mexico with 23.3 million. That's 20.6% of Canada, 9.7% of Brazil and 19.3% of Mexico. So in a way we really are #2 ;) :lol

I would agree that putting a team in Mexico wouldn't be a great idea, but it does bring up an interesting point. If the UK is so low on the list why are they the only one that gets international games? Why not put games in Mexico, Brazil or Canada in some years and not in London?

Probably because taking the game into Europe is a bigger step. It's already reasonably popular in Canada, they want to do everything they can to bring the game into a new hemisphere.

Tim, geography... UK is still in the Western hemisphere :P

I don't know it still seems to me that growing it in places where they have an interest in growing it would be a first step. Also, putting games in places where it is feasible to actually put a team at some point still makes more sense.

I was referring to Europe as a whole. The UK is just a stepping stone to the rest of the continent in the NFL's eyes.

If that's their plan and they are going to expand throughout Europe then they will become the Roman Empire and Mark Cuban won't wind up sounding so crazy after all.

They've had games in Toronto. The Bills played 2 regular season games there for a couple years. It didn't go that well, the fans there didn't really take to it and they had to heavily paper the crowds. That may have had something to do with it not being their own team though.
