This whole thing is kind of stupid. Not them acknowledging the boos Reigns got. No issue with that. The problem is them saying the Reigns win is controversial. Unless they are going to straight up say Reigns was scripted to win the match, then there is nothing controversial behind the victory in kayfabe. Reigns won fair and square, Bryan said as such. It wouldn't be much of a problem if it was just HHH saying it was controversial because you could just pass it up as a feud between The Authority and Reigns but the announcers were/are saying the same thing.

I know this is the "Reality Era" but kayfabe still matters. At least it should.

What I hope is that at Fast Lane there will be a #1 contenders tournament with the finals taking place at WM. They can add all the guys that people feel got shafted. With Lesnar leaving they are going to have to do this anyway. So that someone is build up for Extreme Rules.

I think maybe Rock's inference could be the reason why they're calling it "controversial". Granted, the RR is No DQ and whatnot in Kayfabe but Roman Reigns didn't win fairly.

This was my first thought when he said that too. Really it makes no sense for Reigns to have to defend his title shot he won fair and square. Maybe their plan is to make people feel sorry for Reigns until they cheer him

I could totally see them having Reigns beat Bryan to stay in the match. Maybe they would feel like the fans would see him as more deserving then? Which would only piss them off more.

I would hate this decision with a white hot passion. Like I would hate that more than them keeping the match the same and promising to never give Bryan another title match as long as he lives. It would render the Rumble completely pointless to me.

The logical kayfabe announcement IMO would be to have Rusev vs Reigns at Fast Lane for the title shot, since The Rock interfered before the Rumble ended. It would be a heel move by the Authority and would force Reigns to "earn" his shot. Since Rusev/Cena is already booked, I guess it isn't happening, but it would make the most sense to me storyline wise. Hell, maybe they'll make it an Elimination Chamber match at Fast Lane and the winner faces Brock to really pit Reigns in a corner.

Yeah, I've been worrying that this is the announcement too. The Royal Rumble is one of the best gimmicks and ideas they have left and that it establishes the main event contender at Wrestlemania just makes it more prestigious and important. It sucks that WWE can't pick the correct Rumble winner these days, but that's no reason to throw out a tried and tested formula that really works. They just need to pull their heads out of their asses in future years and actually listen to the fans when making these kinds of decisions.

It's possible the company doesn't even know what the announcement is going to be yet though. They might just be announcing some kind of announcement so they can see what the IWC comes up with and the sort of angles that people might be happy with.

It's good that they're addressing the reaction to the match, I guess, but they should have addressed Reigns' popularity before the damn Rumble. They've made this way more difficult than it needed to be. I'm still in favour of taking actions to actually make fans care about Reigns rather than to change the Wrestlemania main event, but I doubt that's going to happen. That would require some actual booking, which the company isn't good at these days. It'll just be some contrived solution, that as far as I can see, can't work nearly as good as last year.

Since Rock interfered and helped Reigns knock out Kane and Big Show, I wouldn't be shocked if they had Reigns vs Bryan at Fast Lane. Maybe have a battle royal that Bryan wins to face Reigns.

The controversy was the fact that Big Show & Kane neded up fighting each other, rather than concentrate on the business at hand, which was eliminate Roman Reigns.

I'm actually surprised that Triple H didn't come out and acknowledge the boos and kayfabe agree with them, after all "Triple H" wanted Roman Reigns to win the Rumble as much as he wanted Bryan, Ambrose, Ryback or Ziggler to win the Rumble.

It's the best way to get the crowd revert back to cheering Reigns, because by Booing Reigns victory, the WWE Universe is agreeing with The Authority that Roman Reigns is NOT "good for business".
