So, I've been wracking my brains for some time now trying to figure out a new game to get people more involved on Pubtalkforum. WWE-Club was at its best when the WCSF, the roundtables, the debate league, the graphics league and the WWDG were all going, because there was so much for people to choose from.
I was talking to Steve, and he's helped me flesh out the idea a bit better, but I'd love to get more feedback from you guys, as well as finding out whether you'd be interested in taking part.
This idea takes some aspects of PCW/WCSF, WWDG and the debate league and mixes them all together. The general idea:
-People would complete SHORT (think, 5 page absolute maximum, likely much shorter) writing prompts about certain topics. These prompts could be on any topic, including things like "write a promo in the style of The Rock given x situation" or "you wake up, discover it's the apocalypse and you have x items available to you. what steps would you take to ensure your survival for at least a week?" Literally any kind of topic you can imagine.
-These would either happen in individual battles or in group rumbles. Anyone involved in a battle has to write the same prompt as anyone else taking part. The way we choose the prompts hasn't been decided yet but it'd probably either voted on, chosen by winners or chosen by mods.
-You get points for completing/winning prompts. Winners of prompts will be chosen by popular vote after being posted by a moderator so that you cannot see who wrote what.
-The game takes place in seasons that last a certain number of weeks. You must complete a certain number of prompts within that time to qualify for the final standings. There will also be a maximum number... maybe just the same number. You can do these all pretty quickly or spread them out over the season, whatever works best for your personal schedule.
-Whoever is atop the leaderboard after the first season will be our champion. We'll likely have special privileges within the game for the champion, as well as rep prizes for people who complete challenges and finish in certain positions on the leaderboard at the end of the season.
So that's the rough idea right now. What i'd like is ideas from everyone about how else this could work, and a general idea as to who would be interested. It'd be a lot of fun to get a big chunk of the board involved with this, and I think it wouldn't take up too much time in general for people who want to contribute. The fact that there are so many potential topics means that you don't have to be a wrestling or sports fan to find topics that you can write about. And of course, it's completely up to you when you want to participate, so long as you meet the seasonal requirement (if you want to qualify for the leaderboard).
Let me know!
