Fair play to him for earning a bit of money in the sun, but this is a really, really strange move.

Moyes had a pretty horrid tenure at United, his name and image were dragged through the mud, and he was sacked midway through his first season. Surely if you were Moyes, you'd want to reestablish yourself as a top manager - I'd have my eye on teams like West Brom, Villa, Leicester and the like, with the aim of taking them up the table and making them difficult to beat - which is something Moyes is capable of doing.

Yet this move seems to me like Moyes is doing the opposite, he's sort of resigning himself to irrelevancy - like when Steve McClaren took over at FC Twente and Wolfsburg. Unless Moyes does something incredible with Real Sociedad and gets everyone talking about them, it's hard to see how this move does any favours for him professionally. He should have waited for a job in the Premier League and proven his critics wrong - not waste time in Spain. No matter how sweet the sangria tastes.

I disagree and think that he's potentially found himself the perfect post-United job. Sociedad are a good side with good players who have yet to get going this season and lost patience with the manager and with them so far down the table right now the only way they can go is up and they're bound to improve on what they began the season with so to me the job is looking like a win-win.

They beat Atleti this past weekend so again they're no mugs - it reminds me of when Spurs were bottom of the league and sacked Juande Ramos, they had a good squad and had no where else to go but up and Harry Redknapp was revered like Brian Clough for the work he was did when really he owed it all to Damien Commoli for signing him Luka Modric and Gareth Bale for stepping up a whole heap and transforming himself into one of the world's best.

Moyes only needs to do a half-decent job to have done a good job (if that makes any sense) and I reckon he's more than capable of doing so. Of course my opinion all rests on whether he's a good enough coach/manager to succeed which remains to be seen but even if he doesn't he'll blame it on the lack of resourses/finance and other potential limitations he'll run into.

I still think he should have gone for the Celtic job, what better place to fade into obscurity whilst remaining wildly successful than his home fucking town? He'd have gotten rid of his post-United reputation by winning trophies in his hometown and the fact he didn't move heaven and earth to get that job is one of the many reasons I think he's an idiot. Still, good luck to him in Spain - brave move and I hope he does really well.

Well, he'll fit in right at home over there, apparently it pisses it down most of the time.

On Moyes - brave move by him tbf. He could have easily relaxed for the season and waited for a PL job but always back British coaches/players leaving the comfort zone for abroad. Apparently, him knowing English over the mother tongue might be a good thing, Basque folk prefer English over Spanish! Only thing worries me is that he said no but got talked round to it so just think he might not have his heart in it but seems he's taken his time (Dithering Dave) but good luck to him, hope he does well. I'd find it incredibly annoying if United fans were mocking him, sure it didn't work out but not overly his fault SAF gave him the job. The job just wasn't for him in the first place.

He'd have had to win the CL to get a big job in England. Celtic are better known in Europe for the 67 CL win but he could have won all the domestic trophies ten times over, he'd still have got a mid-table job team in the PL. Look at Lennon, he's in the Championship. But winning trophies would have helped his resume.

Maybe he thinks he could land the Barca job when they sack Luis Enrique for being a useless lump, so he has moved to Spain to do well with Sociedad and then state his case in Barca :lol

Yeah once Luis Enrique has written his resignation letter in invisible ink.

Enrique's reign at Barca coming under scrutiny, not looking as rosy as it was when they hadn't conceded a goal in the league for however long it was.

Morgan Schneiderlin has come forward and said that if Saints don't qualify for the Champions League this year, he'll consider leaving. One of the top comments on the story, from a Saints fan:

"Here we go again. Why the fuck is the whole country other than us fans who love them so anti saints? I still think its completely disrespectful that it is constantly stated chelsea have pulled 8 points clear of city completely over looking us."

Other people in the comments claim that Saints are bigger than Liverpool, and that they should sign Juan Mata.

Loads of rumours that Roy Keane and Shay Given were involved in a brawl at the Ireland hotel. It's already been confirmed that the police were called.

Ohh shit! No surprise. Keane has never liked Shay, wonder how it will affect Villa. Given will probably be off as Lambert will back his assistant.

Whoever this fan was, I commend their bravery for stepping within punching distance of a visibly angry Roy Keane.

Coventry have been caught selling old Leicester shirts:

Image

You can faintly see the outline of the 'King Power' logo which has been peeled off, and the Coventry badge has just been stuck on. They were selling them for 15 quid in the club shop.

Coventry are a laughing stock these days, as is basically the whole of midlands football.

Shaun Maloney just scored a beauty against the Republic of Ireland.

I always liked him when he was at Villa, it's a shame things didn't work out for him.

Apparently was a physical game and a fourth ref had the audacity to challenge Roy Keane on the touchline.

Also, fuck the international break. Carrick injured, now De Gea with a dislocated finger. Only for in-form Luke Shaw to be injured next.

Have to say brilliantly worked goal by Scotland > https://twitter.com/FootballVines/statu ... 4966112257

Hope they do a number over England on Tuesday, seem to have made good improvements under Strachan and his coaching team.

You hope Scotland beat England? :facepalm

Bradford won away at Preston yesterday, who hadn't lost in 20 games at home. Found this online showing them equalize late on only for us to score 50 seconds later. Bloke in the crowd who goes from "that's been coming!" to "absolutely useless" is hilarious! :lol
