How many people (even out of those who watch TNA) realised that this was even happening? :lol

This show feels like it came out of nowhere. None of the matches have any build up - even the ones that easily could have been given some build up. It feels like they've barely been promoting Bound For Glory on their show. It feels like they've put no effort into making the show a big deal this year, despite the show being in Japan.

If you make a bold decision like that, TNA, you need to work harder to make sure things go well. Not less hard. Jesus fucking Christ, you are a train wreck of a promotion.

This is why people won't give TNA a shot. Because they make these crazy business decisions. And because ultimately they usually suck at telling stories. Many people are high on TNA at the moment, because they're giving us quality wrestling matches for free on television every week. But without a good story, the best of wrestling matches can be ultimately forgettable. And without proper build to their biggest show of the year, they'll never gain any momentum.

It's such a frustrating company. This pay per view card looks borderline terrible. The Heavyweight title isn't even on the line. The tag titles aren't on the line. Most of their biggest names and best talents aren't on the show. Bobby Roode & Austin Aries are nowhere to be seen, but somehow Velvet Sky is wrestling one on one for a championship. This is a complete joke.

Put on all the great wrestling matches you want, TNA. If you don't learn to write, if you don't learn to promote, you're going under and you're going under soon. Fucking hell these people are idiots.

I am treating this show as an obscure wwe European tour. The matches could be awesome but the storyline (s) are catered for the local crowd and not the masses. In the grand scheme of things it wouldn't help them that much to heavily advertise in the states because of the direction of the show being focused around wrestle one and not tna.

I didn't realize it was time for it until I watched Impact on Thursday. Which was also the point I realized that they weren't doing the BFG Series and it bummed me out. The whole thing bummed me out really.

@Hanley, you should have realized by now that BFG this year would not be a traditional PPV. It's a crossover event between K-1 and TNA. There is no build up intentionally. Don't get me wrong, I'm NOT defending TNA's decision to do BFG in this format this year, because if BFG had the card I posted in the Bound For Glory Series thread, chances are I would have bought the PPV. And I don't really get why they promoted it as their biggest PPV of the year on every Impact.

But here's the thing: They HAVE been telling stories. In fact, in my opinion TNA has never been more consistent and better in its storytelling than it is at the moment (I've been watching since 2009). They are just telling those stories and blowing off those stories on TV instead of on PPV. Don't forget that TNA is trying not to get dropped by Spike. The Tag Title Series, Lashley/Roode etc, have all been built up very well and treated as PPV-level matches when they happened. Except you're getting them for free on TV, instead of having to pay for them. So I'm not sure why you're so frustrated. Do you usually buy TNA Pay-Per-Views?

I will give TNA a ton of credit for their string of shows that were filmed in New York. I don't know if it was just the narrow time frame or what, but the direct and focused storytelling they did during all of those shows was the best I've seen TNA operate short of maybe the beginning stage of A&8's.

No, I never buy TNA pay per views. First of all, because we're unable to buy them over here. They're shown free on the air three days after they happen. But even if they were available to buy on pay per view, I wouldn't be inclined to buy any of them because they barely announce any matches in advance and don't give us proper build up to anything. Which means there's no point in buying their pay per views.

This just isn't a problem with Bound For Glory this year. It's a problem with all of their pay per views. It's very common that a week before the pay per view they only have a couple of matches announced. And it's not really good enough if they want to secure more buys.

And I realise that Bound For Glory was never going to be a traditional pay per view this year, but they could have done more to build it up on television all the same. Joe is facing Low-Ki on the card, yet their television feud was shortlived (and there wasn't really any story) and it concluded on television over a month ago. Havok faced a member of the actual Knockout roster, but they spent no time building to that match on television as far as I'm aware. And they could have had a heavyweight title match. Why not have Lashley competing in one of the random TNA vs K-1 matches? They could have just shown a couple of pre-recorded videos from each guy leading into the match, talking about why they're the best their company has to offer and why they're going to kick the other guy's ass. Simple things like that can go a long way.

I don't accept that this pay per view occurring in Japan completely tied their hands into utilizing it for any ongoing stories. They could have done something to get Americans to want to buy this show. There were limitations, but there were still plenty of options there.

And yeah, I guess there have been some stories in TNA recently, but not many. I've been enjoying the show a lot more too ... I don't watch every week, but I've been watching every other week for the last little while. But the stories aren't really all that compelling. Joe has just been facing guys without any story. The tag team series has had almost no story to it. People are enjoying the matches and the focus on competition, but for the most part they've been quite lacking in actual creativity. Just my opinion.

Hold on, has TNA partnered with K-1? As in the kickboxing organisation?

I thought it was Wrestle-1, The Great Muta's promotion.
