This will probably be the easiest of round one for me. I love me some Anne Hathaway, but she's barely even entered the prime of her career. She's got a lot of work ahead of yet. Pacino is a true legend in film and should win this one pretty easily.

I like Hathaway a lot, and I look forward to seeing her career progress, but it's Pacino. Unfortunately, she's going to get creamed here, and not undeservedly; he's just that good.

Favourite performance by Pacino - Dog Day Afternoon... probably.

Favourite performance by Hathaway - Rachel Getting Married.

I'm being weird and voting for Hathaway.

I'm not going to argue the point that people shouldn't vote for Pacino though, because it would be pointless and because I don't even believe him to be inferior to Hathaway. He's had a much longer and better career. I don't disagree with people who say he's the better actor of the two.

I admittedly haven't seen some of Pacino's most lauded performances, but I have seen him in a few different films that I really enjoyed him in. Glengarry Glen Ross is the film of his that I watched most recently and he was a definite highlight in a film with a really stacked cast.

The reason I'm voting for Hathaway is Rachel Getting Married, just because I think that's my favourite performance from any actor or actress that I've ever seen. She's scary convincing in the role, bringing so much baggage and emotion and attitude to her performance. She really transformed - it was almost impossible to see Anne Hathaway in there, even though she didn't make any changes to her physical appearance. Watching the film, I kept having to remind myself that she was an actress and not a real person. It almost felt like a documentary to me at times.

So that one performance is my excuse for voting for her, and why I nominated her in the first place. I'd recommend the film to any fans of dramas; it really is extremely compelling. Although difficult to watch at times. I'm more than aware that she's had her share of duds too, but she's capable of mammoth performances and I didn't want to see her exiting the tournament without any votes to her name. She's better than that.

This is a pretty unlucky draw for Hathaway. Al Pacino will probably be one of the last few contenders left, and it's unfortunate that she's come up against him in the first round.

I love Anne Hathaway. She was excellent in Rachel Getting Married, and I enjoyed her performances in One Day, Love and Other Drugs and TDKR. But as Tim said, she's barely in the prime of her career - I firmly believe when all is said and done she'll be considered among the likes of Meryl Streep as one of the greatest actresses of all time.

But for now, Pacino takes it. Favourite performance - Scarface

Hatheway is possibly one of the finest actresses working today, but I find it hard to compare her to some of the amazing performances Pacino has had. His stand out performance for me was Dog Day Afternoon. Scarface is another amazing one. Hatheway is a great actress and granted there are a still a lot of her movies I have yet so see, I haven't been wowed by her like I have done many times by Pacino.
