I think most people understand that diet is the most important thing here. They just also understand that while if they eat well they might experience 'thin' in a few weeks, if they eat pizza then they'll experience 'delicious' right now. :P

It's hard to put off something you want now for the promise of a pay off down the road. And the busier and more worn down you are, and the less time you have to cook decent meals for yourself, the easier it is to let things get out of hand. Even when you know exactly how to do things right, it's real easy to do the exact opposite.

I lost a good amount of weight about 9 months ago and have been holding steady at a weight I'm pretty happy with ever since then, but I know my diet could stand to be a bit better. Still it's hard to find the motivation. I'm kinda a foodie anyway though, so while I'm not ordering takeaway pizza every night, I like nice meals and eating out in restaurants, etc. is one of my favourite things to do.

I kinda feel like you should just have to work out OR diet to get to your desired weight. Needing to do both just seems cruel. :P

But I'm so shy! I am still trying to lose that lower abdominal fat/love handles. I also want to build up more of my back, and my shoulders. This picture is post Martial Arts class.

Great video Alpha

I just wanna throw this out there guys, I didn't really feel too keen on uploading my picture on here, and I understand if you don't want to either. Hell you don't have to, but like the video said you really should take a picture. You don't need to post it on the mirror, you don't need to psych yourself up with it, but take a picture.

Working out/training is a different overall wellness, it's not just dieting and losing weight. It's not starving yourself to shed pounds. You are building, and a scale isn't going to show that progress. Don't emphasize on the numbers, you build muscle you lose fat, you could gain weight. Take a picture to see the difference, you shower and see yourself in the mirror multiple times a day, you aren't going to see what's going on with your body as well. I didn't take a before picture, and the only way I finally noticed progress was the way my clothes fit. I wish I took a before picture.

"Muscular" is all about that fat% friend. I bet you are actually stronger than I am if you are at 190. How is your diet going?

@Kein The diet has been a failure, but I'm gonna try my hardest to stay away from fried stuff and too much sugar/carbs. :lol

Y'all wanted it, here's a whole lotta sexy with a side of flab :D

Image

Did an hour of lifting and went for a 40 minute run afterwards. Was dead tired after but I feel so good (I don't look anything like Arnold, but I felt like I could lift the Earth haha, those endorphins).

I'm going to try and really commit to three days of lifting a week, with runs in there as well so I don't lose my speed. If I can keep it going I should look good by Christmas :tim

I don't feel weird about it at all, but I'm still not posting pics myself. :lol Only one member on this site gets to see me shirtless.

I haven't been working out for a while though, and probably won't be for the next month because I'm putting all my spare time into studying for an exam that I have on the 2nd of November. I'm feeling guilty as hell about it, but I really need the extra time to make sure I pass that stupid test. Things will be back to normal in November though.

On the bright side, if I pass the exam and pass another exam in May then I've got my degree and won't have any distractions at all for the foreseeable future. At least until I decide to do another degree, like the moron I am. :lol

@SKS

An hour of weights is far more efficient that 40 minutes of cardio. Im sure you like that way but if I were to change anything it would be an hour of weights 3x a week, and then do the cardio on your off days. Just my opinion. Deal wit it! :D

Take a picture with the tightest shirt you can find! Alright, good to go by November Hanley! just in time for... holidays.... >.> hahahah

SKS, you actually look stronger in this picture than the last one you posted, nice job! Try avoiding chips along with the fried foods. Also something that helps me is drinking a ton of water, a lot of the time when you are hungry you are really just thirsty, give it a shot.

Yeah, I know right. :P Though I think that'll be fine. It's easy to put on weight over the holidays, but I'm confident that I'll be working off the extra calories as I go, so I'm not sweating it.

Having been deprived of the gym for the last while I'm now almost missing it in a weird way. I still don't enjoy being there, but I miss the feeling after you finish for the day. I imagine once I get back to it, I'll be pretty gung-ho about it for a while.

Uh alright so question: How long exactly does a cutting diet take before you actually show results?

I've been going to the gym regularly for almost a month now, I'm 5'11" and 165, I still have some fat and stuff on me, but I wanted to bulk up to like 175 or so and then look jacked for next summer. :lol I just wanted to know when I should start cutting for dat beach body.

Depending on your diet, usually anywhere from 12-20 weeks.
