If SpikeTV is not impressed with TNA right now then maybe TNA should cut ties with them

Postby Westcoastvibes » Sep 03, '14, 9:11 pm

Spike made it know that they were not impressed with TNA, mostly TNA's involvement with Vince Russo and the overall negative reputation TNA was getting from general wrestling fans at the time. Spike gave TNA one chance to prove itself with a temporary extension of the TV deal until the end of 2014 so TNA could prove it was capable of being better.

well, for almost 4 months now TNA has been fucking KILLING it. TNA is doing face vs face matches that are phenomenal. The Knockouts division is leagues ahead of anything WWE could even dream about the Diva's being. The X-Division - ma gawd where do I start? The transformation of senada, the return of homicide, manik, low-ki & Tajiri, the addition of Crazy Steve, veterans like Austin Aries & DJ-Z.... Its insane to think about the talent pool TNA has in just that division.

On to the Tag team division, The resurrection of team 3d and the hardy boyz along side new talent like the wolves and the bro-mans is the start to a great rebuild of their division. The tag series with 3d/hardy's/wolves has the potential to be just as good if not better than the MCMG/Beer money series and gives tna some time to create and build some other teams before its over.

the ME you may ask???? I hate to say it but Lashley is the best thing TNA has done in a while when it comes to the WHC belt. by shutting his as up and letting MVP be the mouthpiece, tna has exploited his greatest assets while hiding his greatest flaws, he was built as the destroyer and is living up to it.

oh shit, how can you not mention EC3 either? why wwe let him get away is beyond me, this guy is fucking gold.

Crowd - YOU CANT WRESTLE
EC3 - I Disagree
Crowd - YOU CANT WRESTLE
EC3 - Im very good
Crowd - YOU CANT WRESTLE
EC3 - Your Not Creative!
Crowd - YOU CANT WRESTLE
EC3 - I am the greatest living Professional Wrestler ALIVE!
Crowd - CM PUNK CM PUNK CM PUNK!
EC3- Yeah, I'd Beat him to!

HAHAHA, Fucking classic!

anyways - TLDR version.... WATCH TNA, Its better than WWE right now

I tried watching a bit tonight, but it's hard to get motivated to watch it. Watching TNA now is like watching a sports team that has no chance of making the playoffs with like 3 months still left in the season, it's like why bother wasting my time when nothing that happens matter if they're tossed off TV in a few months?

It sucks because if they could have done this for the past couple years they wouldn't have had to worry about this right now.

It does suck because I fear that even though they are doing solid shows every week and consistently, it will take wrestling fans to long to get back into it and spike will not see the ratings increase fast enough that TNA needs to renew the contact.

but, hopefully other networks see what kind of work TNA is putting into its product and sees the potential of turning TNA in a major promotion. with the right network and the right backing TNA could easily be the Anti-WWE product. with the current shit state of WWE, any big network could invest in TNA with a tv contract and some proper promotion and turn TNA into something great. They have the talent and the ability they just need the right partners

The problem is that TNA can't exactly cut ties with Spike TV, because who else is going to offer them a TV contract? Right now TNA needs Spike WAY more than Spike needs TNA, and I think both sides know this.

They have already been offered contracts from velocity and I believe truTV. The problem is that those networks are relatively unknown and they are offering a fraction of what spike is currently giving.

Since Slammiversary in June they've been on a roll. Not one bad show since then. Really liked tonight's Impact as well. Sick spot in the Taryn/Gail matchup. Didn't expect the return of Tajiri so that was nice. Good match between Roode and EY. EC3 is amazing, I think he might be becoming out of my favorites. Not sure what to think of Havok just yet, but it was a solid debut nevertheless.

I'm not sure I understand this mentality. If WWE was going out of business in 3 months, and they filled those 3 months with nothing but consistently awesome shows with tons of great matches and segments, you wouldn't be motivated to watch? Even if TNA goes out of business, (which isn't a 100% certainty) it's not going to stop me from enjoying some good wrestling when I can get it.

The issue with TNA is they have burned fans far too many times than I can count. After their stellar 2012 pay-per-view, Destination X, I tried to get into the product and once again they would eventually fall into their own ways although admittedly I wasn't consistent in watching it. The same thing happened following 2011 Destination X and countless times before and after. As good as TNA may be right now, and for all I know it could be the single best wrestling product in the history of mankind, wrestling fans aren't that forgiving. They are not going to invest their time into a show that has countless times just ended up disappointing them.

But if there is anything less forgiving than a wrestling fan, it is a TV network. TNA can do all they want in these next 3 or however many months they have left to air on Spike and it won't matter. Fair or not fair, TNA has already wasted their last chance.

I don't plan on watching TNA, not because I think it sucks because I trust your opinion and I trust KaiserGlider's opinion that it is a good show right now. But I'm not going to watch it because I hear this every year. I hope they do succeed, I really do because there are some things they have ALWAYS done better than the WWE (for the love of God, I wish TNA could teach the WWE a thing or two about giving every wrestler on the roster a PURPOSE and an IDENTITY - it isn't difficult to do), but I would rather take a wait and see approach with them. I want to see consistency from them over the course of a long time.

Loving TNA right now, I've kind of stuck with them for the past few years because I have no alternative. And this is the best they've been for a while. I absolutely LOVE EC3, can't believe WWE dropped the ball with him. I think he's fantastic, the total package and could easily be the face of the company one day. Really enjoying the tag matches between Team 3D, The Hardys and The Wolves and I'm ridiculously excited to hear that Tajiri is on this weeks show. Also interested to see what Havoc is all about. The lack of Dixie screen time is definitely helping their cause.

Fingers crossed they can keep up the good work and gradually pull some fans back in again.
