He's a good player don't get me wrong, but he's fucking weird going biting people. And the fact he defended himself after the game makes it 10x worse.

Seriously, who bites another man? It's sad that for all his ability he's an asshole on the pitch.

This dude seriously has some problems. He says "these things happen on the pitch." No. No they don't. I don't think I have ever heard of any player biting another player. Yet he has done it three times.

His excuses are hilarious. He knows he's neck-deep in shit and hearing him try and talk is way out of it is embarrassing.

"His shoulder collided with my teeth" - lol, ok. Almost as funny as when he claimed he repeatedly called Patrice Evra a nigger 'in a friendly way'.

Uruguayan media are so fucking ridiculous. Blaming a conspiracy on the English/Italian press, criticising Chiellini, no wonder Suarez shrugs his shoulders and is dismissive of these acts when the Uruguayan culture seems to be so dismissive.

Suarez handed a 4 month world football ban. He is to miss the following Premier League games:

16 Aug Southampton (H)
23 Aug Man City (A)
30 Aug Tottenham (A)
13 Sep Aston Villa (H)
20 Sep West Ham (A)
27 Sep Everton (H)
04 Oct West Brom (H)
18 Oct QPR (A)
25 Oct Hull City (H)

@prophet, @Chewy

Plus, he'll miss some League Cup games and Champions League games.

Since 2010, Suarez will have now been banned for a total of 34 games, all without receiving a red card.

People would be more understanding (maybe) if this had happened once, I mean we all make bad choices at times. Twice is pushing it a lot, but THREE times!? Come on now, the guy has issues. Great player but this biting streak he's got going on is ruining his work on the pitch, people won't remember him as a great player, people will remember him as the biter.

Such a friggin' idiot.

@PorkChop

He was banned at the start of last season too and as a result Sturridge blossomed, same thing will happen again this year especially if Liverpool bring in a wide-man with the quality of a Sanchez/Shaqiri (both heavily linked) so all in all I'm not too worried about it affecting us despite being another fucking big annoying setback. I'd take 80 mill from Barca for him though, or 50 + Sanchez :D

If Suarez stays at Liverpool though stick a tenner of him finishing top scorer in the league again - you know he will.

EDIT: http://espn.go.com/espn/feature/story/_ ... ful-player

Brilliant article on him.

I don't understand those who are defending the actions of the player, or those who are saying that his teams should still keep him because he's such a good player. For starters, that's basically saying that if you're talented enough then it's okay to be a violent savage, which is a horrible attitude to take. But even from a more practical point of view, how can you rely on a player like that? No matter how good he is, he's not going to be any good when he's not allowed on the pitch. If you never know when he's going to be banned for 10 games, he's not worth having around.

I think the ban is just about right. Considering the maximum ban is two years, he's got off lightly but think it would have been difficult to defend a two year ban.

Luckily Suarez misses no major games besides the CL and Sturridge did well at the start of last season so if Suarez stays, Liverpool might do fine without him.

But, I can see he'll be off. No way he'll miss this opportunity to bang the "it's a conspiracy by the British media" drum and it'll be enough for Barca/Madrid who are still interested to pay £68m and a player on top.

If Liverpool got that money and one of Pedro/Sanchez, I'd help Suarez move!

Luis needs off the pitch psychological help, it's clear what he has been having (I assume at Melwood with Steve Peters) is no where near good for what he needs to resolve what are deep seated anger issues.

I wouldn't have had difficulty defending it.

It's his third time doing it, and he has been punished for doing it before. It's not exactly a hard sell that harsher penalties are needed to dissuade him from doing this again - if indeed it's possible to dissuade him from it.

Once he's served his relatively short amount of time, he'll be back playing regularly and he'll be the same asshole he is now and just as likely to go around biting people for sport.

Imagine if a WWE wrestler did something like this. People in the company would probably throw a fit.

It's just disappointing that a player who is so talented, is so ill-disciplined that he can resort to this type of crap.

With all this talk about Luis Suarez biting, I think it would be good to bring up the point in relation to other players committing dangerous acts on the pitch. For example, in this world cup we have seen both Diego Costa head but and Alex Song elbow fellow professionals. Why is it that these kind of acts are not considered as dangerous as a bite? Surely they warrant bans also?

I am not saying that Suarez shouldn't have got banned. In fact, I think he should have got longer in an attempt to make him finally learn his lesson. But I wouldn't mind seeing some consistency by Fifa in relation to footballers "attacking" other professionals during matches!

Chiellini himself (the victim of the bite) has today stated that he feels the ban is 'excessive' and that it could alienate the player completely. Stand up stuff by him I suppose.

I feel that the ban was deserved, and should he do it again, I'd ban him from world football for double the length of this one.
