Tape of Michael Cera's audition for Superbad

Easy to see why he was cast in the part, he nails the audition. Really cool!

Makes me want to watch that movie again soon, too. Easily my favorite comedy of the last ten years.

I forget, was he already known for playing George-Michael Bluth at this point when he auditioned? If so I'd say this audition was an inevitability really, still really cool to see thing like this though, I really enjoy seeing behind the scenesy shit.

Yeah, he was. That was the role that put him on the map. I like him better in Arrested Development than most things too, so I can see why.

I wasn't a big fan of Superbad. I don't know why so many people rate it as the best comedy in years. I thought the McLovin stuff was great, but the stuff with Hill & Cera didn't really do it for me. That kind of awkward humour rarely does it for me, I guess.

For me the biggest reason is that the writing/dialogue is fantastic. It's one of the only comedies of that genre I've seen where it legitimately feels like the way I would talk to my friends. It's also just freaking hilarious, so there's that.

I don't think there's another comedy over the last ten years that measures up to it, honestly.
