Someone remind Rooney that he got a new deal because he's got a master manipulator agent in Stretford and were able to jump on Moyes/Woodward's weakness and got the deal he wanted.

Also, I very much doubt that besides the Class of 92 that anyone has Paul Scholes' mobile number.

You can tell its stung him and he probably knows deep down what Scholes said was true. He'd have been better off laughing it off as a way of showing the world he wasn't affected by his comments.

Heard about this one a while ago but it's just been confirmed, Chelsea have signed Cesc Fabregas on a five year deal. This has been a hell of a window for Chelsea and it's not even July yet.

They're not Arsenal, I'd assume.

Maybe because they're direct rivals? And he said he would never play for another team except Arsenal and Barca?

Supposedly Arsenal had the option to re-sign him and turned it down.

We didn't sign him because we don't really need him. It just the fact he made out he loved Arsenal and joins one of their biggest rivals. It's like a slap to the face of Arsenal fans really. No loyalty in football these days.

He loves Arsenal but Arsenal doesn't love him. :(

Arsenal and Chelsea aren't really rivals at all though, especially 'direct rivals'. They're just two London teams, but that doesn't make them rivals. Like QPR and Fulham - two London teams, but no real bad blood or anything.

Also, people change. Rooney said he'd never leave Everton. Carlos Tevez said he wouldn't play for another Premier League side after United. Sol Campbell said he'd never move to Arsenal. List goes on and on...

I dunno what you guys think, but with the world cup starting today, would now be a good time to lock this one up and begin a new thread?

Probably better just make a separate World Cup thread, this one can sit here for club news until the new season kicks off I'd say.

@Enygma, Arsenal had first-refusal on Fabregas. They opted not to sign him.

I would be angry with Fabregas if Arsenal wanted to sign him. But they didn't. You can't really fault the guy for wanting to play in the Premiership again and of course he was gonna go to a Champions League side. He wanted to go to Arsenal but they decided against it.

I harbour no ill feelings towards him.
