Milner in right-back is having a nightmare.

Also if Ecuador could actually pass and weren't falling all over each other, they could go on to win this. They've had the better attacking opportunities so far, mainly due to England's shitty defence.

Sterling is not ready for international football. Kid's a liability and it's only a fecking friendly.

The hell was he thinking?

Antonio Valencia sent off for grabbing Sterling's neck. Most threatening he's been all season.

Sterling's challenge was awful, Valencia is lucky he managed to jump it. If I was Valencia I'd have been angry as well, stupid to react the way he did though.

Milner was shite, Shaw was shite, and so was Wilshere (the new Darren Anderton). Lambert was fairly quiet except for his goal. The rest of the team weren't impressive either, Rooney was probably the best player and his performance was hardly great.

Improvement is needed if we're going to make it through the group stage!

Rooney was alright but I thought chamberlain was by far England's best player when he was on. He got in good positions, looked dangerous on the ball and created a lot of problems for the Ecuador defence. He probably was the only one who put himself in with a chance of starting.

Although it was a dangerous challenge by sterling, I don't think he meant any malice in it. Saying he isn't ready for international football would be hideous though, he's one of the more dangerous players we have with us in terms of running at defences in my opinion. And he's been in great form with Liverpool as well!

I'd like to echo my previous statement of how in the fuckery duckery do is Ben Foster ahead of John Ruddy?

Forster deserves the chance to play over Foster, the man who walked away from his country only 4 years ago.

Foster, Smalling, Milner, Wilshere, Rooney were all shit.

The Ox and Barkley had good games I felt. Lambert was quiet except for that thunderbastard of a goal.

The whole Sterling/Valencia thing, what a mess. To suggest Sterling isn't ready for Int'l football is simply not true.

Never. He wouldn't be anywhere near that team if he wasn't playing (and I use the term "playing" loosely) for Utd.

Re: England World Cup Thread

As the (seemingly) only positive person on the forum I'll try find some silver lining about last night. I don't think it was a bad game or performance at all, we played a makeshift team comprised mostly of players who won't be playing in the World Cup and managed to show a lot of character to take the lead after falling behind early on. The two goals conceded came from a poorly structured defense but they were both good efforts that couldn't really be avoided. I'd feel confident those type of goals (particularly the first) wouldn't be so easy to execute with our first choice back-four.

We looked most dangerous when our younger lads (Chamberlain, Barkley) had the ball at their feet and ran at them. I absolutely think that's the type of game we should be trying to play and the likes of Barkley, Lallana and Sterling should be starting. The red-card incident was daft but would Raheem have been sent off in Valencia didn't throw a bitch-fit? I don't think so (I understand why Valencia reacted the way he did though). To suggest he's too young and that he's a liability is hilarious, sure the challenge was unnecessary/reckless but those things happen in football all the time.

Italy drew 1-1 at home to Luxembourg. At least Ecuador are in the World Cup, still think we can take them.

^^

The positive thing about the Italy result is that they fielded a strong team as well. I didn't see the game but I'm guessing their performance was garbage also. Hopefully it is a positive sign for England!

I still think Italy will beat us. I'm pretty sure Uruguay will beat us as well.

On a positive note, we have one of the youngest teams in the tournament and this will be a good experience for them.

We'll beat Uruguay. Also Italy haven't won a match since last September.
