AT&T buys DirecTV for $48.5 billion

Deal still subject to review, has to go through the appropriate government channels. But...

Holy fuck.

People are going to be ditching DirecTV in droves now. AT&T is one of the worst-run companies in America. Just go and check out the reaction on DirecTV's facebook announcement/press release link about this, it'll tell you all you need to know: https://www.facebook.com/directv/posts/ ... 1445601278

But honestly, cable and satellite TV will soon be things of the past anyway. People are dropping services at big rates and I just can't see them picking back up. Hopefully within the next ten years we'll have more "a la carte" options or services like Netflix that allow you to pay a subscription to watch whatever you want to watch.

Direct TV will be its own thing but owned by att. Unless I saw wrong. I have DirecTV and no plans to switch unless something drastic occurs
