Best subscribe-to service?

Postby Locke » May 15, '14, 1:53 pm

Long story short, we currently subscribe to Pandora in the Barber Shop so we have variation and stuff to listen to all day. The bad thing is, if you just rely on shuffle on a general channel (rather than artist by artist), you will eventually get repeats as bad as regular radio. On top of that, they're upping their sub price by a buck and denying the ability to pay for a full year at a time (pretty annoying). So we're probably done with Pandora. So what is out there that's better? Our setup is pretty easy, it's an iPad in an iHome Docking System. Great sound.

I've heard of Spotify, but not sure how it works compared to Pandora and et cetera.

Any info would be appreciated! If I asked this in another post already, I probably was drunk and I forgot I asked. <.<

I don't use very many music services like that, but I've heard good things about Spotify. Maybe look into last.fm as well?

I use Spotify. You can pretty much listen to anything an unlimited amount of times and create playlists all for free. You've got to be online though. If you want to download the songs and listen offline you've got to pay.

I'm a Spotify subscriber, and I love it. For ten bucks a month you can listed to virtually whatever you want, create playlists, and also create "stations" just like you would on Pandora. There are a few notable artists that won't be found on Spotify (The Beatles, Zeppelin, and Tool are three that immediately come to mind), and there are also artists who's catalogs are incomplete.

Still, it's worth the price for someone who spends most of their music-listening-time away from the computer.

I am stuck in the 90's. My ipod is where I go for music, but I have checked out Pandora, its neat but yea it has its issues. I prefer to make my own playlist and shuffle it, the more songs the better to break. I guess this doesn't really help you.

Have you checked out soundcloud? I dunno anything about it but I know a lot of people like it.
