With the 29th pick of the draft the New England Nancy Pants select...

Image

Louis Nix DT Notre Dame.

Pats need help on defense and while they have Wilfolk and Kelly, I don't see the former being around after this year(I feel he has a one year deal for a reason) If Nix falls this far it is simply taking one of the best players available and he happens to fill a future need. Liked seeing him in ND, he isn't very fast and can't make the best adjustments but if you need someone to be a big fat ass and stand still, he is your guy.

"If you need someone to be a big, fat ass and stand still he's your guy."

Perhaps my favorite analysis of a draft pick so far.

Other than that though, really good pick for the Pats.

Because I am at work and can only do this quickly. 49ers take Rashede Hageman and Seattle with the 32nd pick takes Donte Moncrief.

You kind of have to wait to see who gets taken at 31st before Seattle can take Moncrief, but we'll see if that pick holds up.

With the 31st pick in the 2014 Pub Talk forums NFL Mock Draft, The Denver Broncos select.....

Image

Xavier Su'a-Filo, OG, UCLA

With how Seattle owned their offense in the super bowl, The Broncos would want to look to improving their O-line to let Peyton do what he does best. With a hole at guard due to free agency, Su'a-Filo is a good fit. 6'4 307. He helped UCLA out and can help the broncos with protection Playing the other positions can help as well on the pass and run.

Alright guys, the PubTalk Mock Draft is now complete.

Couple of questions, what team do you think had the best first round out of our picks?

Second, will ANY of our picks actually come true in the most unpredictable draft we've ever seen?

Based on our drafted I would say Cleveland got the best players. IMO Khalil Mack is the best player in this draft regardless of position. Also they picked up a solid compliment receiver to go with Gordan and Cameron. As long as they address the QB situation early in the 2nd round they will have an outstanding draft. I also believe our mock is no where near what will actually happen. Most mocks are completely wrong because 90% of information that is reported are smoke screens by GMs. I could see us being wrong from the #1 pick and Clowney going instead. I also believe that their will be multiple trades and we can't predict that.

In this mock draft, I'd say the Falcons, Raiders, Ravens and Browns are leaving the happiest.

First, the Falcons got the guy it's pretty clear at this point that they covet. Since they got him without having to give anything up for him(which I imagine they have been preparing to say goodbye to several draft picks for), they are in one hell of a mood after round 1.

I love the Raiders getting Jake Matthews, as it helps their GM get past his absolutely boneheaded handling of the opening free agency period. They let a premiere left tackle walk away to Arizona for big bucks(which the Raiders had...in fact, NO other team had more cap space than the Raiders going into this), and in return signed a left tackle with known injury problems, whose contract was quickly voided when a physical showed that he was *gasp* INJURED!

Jake Matthews has an mean streak about him, that the Raiders will love. He fits the mold of what they want to do. While they certainly need much more on that offense, LT is no longer a need with Matthews, IMO.

The Ravens leave happy, since they end up with a premiere big framed wideout, whom many feel will realistically be going in the top 10. They end up getting Mike Evans at 17, and leave with all smiles.

Finally, the Browns leave happy. Not only are they leaving day 1 with the top LB in this draft(who is NFL ready right now), they end up getting a potential star wideout in their own right, and leave the 1st round knowing that wideout is going to pair with Josh Gordon, to form an explosive(and YOUNG!) wideout duo for years to come. Many may be surprised and/or disappointed that they did not leave the 1st round with a QB. I'd remind them that Brian Hoyer is returning from injury(he looked quite impressive before going down), and they still have an early 2nd round pick they could use on a QB.

As far as picks I don't like go, the #1 to me has to be Bridgewater to the Jags. I think there is enough coverage to show that Bridgewater is going to at least drop into the late 1st, where the Jags could have traded up to get him. Khalil Mack fits exactly what Gus Bradley is all about, when it comes to defensive intensity and attitude. Yes, he isn't on the offensive side of the ball, but here's the deal; if you draft the best player available instead of need, you always leave satisfied. Bridgewater is a huge enough gamble as it is, much less at pick #3.

I'm not sure I like Dennard to the Steelers at 15. He has a high motor, however he also has concerns about his small size. My thought is the Steelers should have gone with Aaron Donald, who has that blue collar mindset that teams love to have. The Eagles taking Kelvin Benjamin doesn't fit to me either, as I don't think Benjamin's work ethic concerns would give Chip Kelly a "warm & fuzzy" with their high intensity, fast paced offensive style.

The more I see it, I am thinking Cody Latimer will be an Eagle come Thursday. I truly think that Chip wants a true big guy and Latimer has the speed and height and was recently doing routes from Chips playbook.

Was very fun. It's always interesting to see the different points of view, especially considering that(as the draft did show us) anything really can happen.

And Legend, I know you're a Browns guy. I have to say throughout both the draft and post draft, that no front office has been more impressive than the Cleveland Browns.

I don't know if Ray Farmer was inspired by Kevin Costner, but he pulled off one hell of a week. They found a way to get the QB they wanted right before the Chiefs were looking pretty good to take him(I have a friend with a little inside info), while still landing the CB with the most long term upside/potential in this draft.

Additionally, Farmer stuck to his guns on how he wanted to draft, regardless of the Josh Gordon news. It's as if he didn't even flinch. The reason I'm so impressed by this, is he still had a plan on how to handle it, which simply didn't involve the draft.

He went out and signed some of the free agent veterans, and got 2 quality ones in Miles Austin and Earl Bennett. That's a team that's going to have opportunity throughout; there is actually reason to hope that Ray Farmer is the real deal. He certainly isn't afraid to take chances, considering going through the early rounds without grabbing one of the top rated WRs is a huge one for them.

Yeah I generally have good feelings about how they have done things - pissed as hell at Gordon himself, but that's a separate issue altogether. The only concern is whether he'll actually be given the full opportunity and time to set things right.

I've watched enough Cleveland sports and the Browns in particular to know the pitfalls of where they are headed, no matter how solid the thinking and theory is behind it. 20 years without a playoff victory has everyone past their patience expiration date and the fact that they haven't fielded a competent offense (the entertaining side of the game) pretty much at all doesn't help matters. The receiver position scares me for this reason - Browns fans turned on Weeden the second he got trapped under that flag (I was at that game) and never gave him another chance. I fear they will do the same thing with Manziel if he doesn't have immediate success - which is hard to see given the lack of weapons the team has for him.

Farmer does have the team set on the right path, but that path may wind up being too long for it to matter.

I'm also impressed with how the Browns have handled the WR void with the impending Gordon suspension. Gordon probably won't get suspended for the full year, but I'm guessing a MINIMUM of eight games anyway. Guys like Austin and Bennett might not be in their prime any more, but adding both of them gives them a veteran presence that they need in that receiving corps and they're more than just bodies that are being thrown in. If Austin can stay healthy in particular, there's no reason to think why he can't at least be an effective possession receiver.
