What was your favorite non-animated movie as a child?

We've talked about childhood animated favorites before. What about non-animated?

My two favorites were undoubtedly Mary Poppins and Bedknobs and Broomsticks in my earliest years, then I'd have added The Sandlot as I got a little bit older.

The Sandlot was great, that's up there for me.

I used to love the slightly scary 80s children's fantasy movies. The Never Ending Story was a favourite of mine (the scene with the horse in the swamp was so sad). Return to Oz was another great film - so weird and creepy. It's sadly been forgotten by most people but it's a real gem.

Beetlejuice is another one that really entertained me as a kid. Creepy yet still kind of cartoony. It's weird that I'm not into horror at all these days, but back then the stuff that scared me was some of my favourite television.

Also the 3 Ninjas movies were awesome. I wanted to be a child ninja more than anything.

Red Dawn. My dad taped it off HBO when it first aired on HBO. I ~~LOVED~~ LOVE that movie. I was to young to get what the real point was at the time. As I got older (teen years) I thought it was just a bad ass war movie. Now I see what the real point was and still love it.

Also Mother fucking Star Wars.

First one to come to mind is Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey. I just love those animals so much and it made me feel all sorts of emotions. The original Star Wars trilogy, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trilogy were some of my favorite movies growing up. Then there's always Mortal Kombat and the Austin Powers 90's duo but my mom didn't know about those ones.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers the Movie. I played that VHS on a daily basis when i was little. Also the first Spy Kids movie, the TMNT movies(mostly the second one) and the first Spiderman.

Free Willy, I was obsessed with Killer Whales the first time I ever saw a picture of one, so at the time this felt like it was made just for me.
