If we're just going for "funniest" though, it'd probably be a British show. I tend to find the British sitcoms more laugh out loud funny than their American counterparts. Fawlty Towers, the I.T. Crowd, Father Ted and Coupling are all some of the shows that have generated the biggest laughs from me.

Definite yes to those, and also Gavin and Stacey - the random sweetness of that show just made it funnier.

Seinfeld has never made me laugh. I enjoy watching it, because it's an enjoyable show. But not one moment made me actually physically laugh out loud. I can sit there and think, "Ahh I get it," or, "Wow I see how this can be funny," but it'll never make me laugh. It just isn't funny to me.

Regardless of whether it's the best or not, Friends has made me laugh more than any other sitcom (maybe with the exception of Louie or Arrested Development)

I like Arrested Development. It's a very clever show and does have some really funny moments. But a lot of its comedy is buried away under the surface - they use a lot of in jokes, references to old moments and some very meta stuff generally. It makes it a great show at times, and definitely sets it apart from other sitcoms, but I couldn't claim it gets more laughs from me than other shows.

Friends is very good, but I wouldn't put it right up near the top. The biggest problem I'd have with that show is that for a lot of its run only the male half of the cast was funny.

Forever typified by 'The One with the Baby Shower'. This sounds rubbish, and that half of the episode was. But the other half of the episode had Bamboozled - with some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen in Friends. It really became wildly inconsistent.

Omg agreed. That show wasn't King of Queens, it was "Listen to This Bitch Rant and Rave for 25 Minutes." The only woman as bitchy as her in television was Ray's wife in Everybody Loves Raymond.

Yeah I agree with Ray's wife. Jesus I would rather have Doug and Raymond in a homosexual relationship and loose the wives. Actually that could be a great spin off. Carrie and Deb(I think that was Ray's wife's name.) kill each other in a bitch off. Ray and Doug move in together. Arthur still loves in the basement but doesn't understand what's going on. Robert and Frank could constantly bust on Ray for his new life. Can you imagine Arthur and Marie going at it every week.

Can't decide. For me it's a tie between Coupling, Men Behaving Badly, Gavin & Stacey and Black Books.

I think if I absolutely HAD to choose I would go for Gavin & Stacey... or Coupling... or MBB... or Black Books...

As far as I'm concerned, there are two types of people in this world: those who like Seinfeld, and those who hate to laugh. :P

No sitcom has ever made me laugh more than Seinfeld and Everybody Loves Raymond.

Everybody Loves Raymond is one of the worst sitcoms I've seen. :lol It was really awkward, the characters were all horrible and it was one of the worst examples of the trope of television wives abusing their husbands for laughs. If a television husband treated his wife the way that Raymond's wife treats him in that show, there would be outrage. Plus it makes the assumption (which many shows do) that the woman is always the more important half of the couple and that the man is always somehow indebted to her. It's just really nasty, uncomfortable stuff that for some reason we're supposed to find funny. It really doesn't work for me.

No love for That 70's Show? Made me laugh like mad. Loved that show. And, I couldn't stand Seinfeld, so I guess I must hate to laugh. lol

It's never too late to learn how! :P

I always enjoyed That 70's Show, too. Kelso, Red, Kitty, Fez and Jackie are all very memorable characters, and Ashton Kutcher was so damn funny as Kelso that I was never able to really hate him during the years that followed when he became as overexposed as he did.

I use Red's "foot in ass" lines on a pretty consistent basis, especially to the wife.
