Has Punk effed up?

Postby ChrisCrossed » Apr 07, '14, 9:36 pm

So Raw is looking like it has a tremendous upside?

A face stable that everyone likes.
An underdog babyface champion that nobody boos.
Legitimate threats coming after the title with a dickish boss.
People into midcarders, Caesaro - Wyatts, BNB.

And Punk chose to leave instead of being apart of this future. He wanted to be in the main event/feud with the bigger picture and now Raw is looking as if they don't need Punk at all. Would he have made it stagnant, who knows? But imo Punk f*cked up finally with his ego. Before they could let him get away with it, he was by far Raw's biggest star and nobody else was pushable. That ship has set sail.

The only one who can say if Punk messed up is Punk. If he has no regrets about leaving, then he didn't mess up at all.

I said it in the chatbox. I think people think Punk cares that much more than he actually does.

CM Punk loves the business of professional wrestling, that is for certain. However, if you read his Twitter or any of his interviews, CM Punk told us this is what was going to happen. Punk was shitting on his own in-ring performances on his Twitter. Punk has been quoted as saying multiple times that he would retire from professional wrestling sooner rather than later. Punk has been seriously banged up for months now. Considering the direction for his character was bleak (and people can talk about what they know in hindsight but Daniel Bryan winning in the main event of WrestleMania was NOT supposed to happen; he was initially scheduled to face Sheamus with Punk against HHH and Batista going on a run as a face), it makes sense why Punk finally decided to leave. The product looked to be on a downward spiral, he no longer seemed to be having fun wrestling anymore, he was banged up, etc.

All the guy talked about anymore is Chicago games and now he has recently gotten engaged to AJ. He is also rich and gets to relax and not deal with being stressed out doing something he seemed to be losing a passion for. I doubt CM Punk cares or feels as bad about his decision as much as people will paint the picture to look that way.

Of course, people just seem to love to shit on CM Punk at every chance they get (not saying you CrissCrossed, and not even anybody on this site; people on every site seem to loathe Punk nowadays).

If anyone thinks Punk gives a single fuck they are just fooling themselves. Punk didn't care anymore by the end of his run. He was hurt and he was obviously coasting. He didn't want to job(theoretically) to HHH and just decided he had enough. He's taking his first real break away from wrestling in forever and recently got engaged to one of the hottest divas on the roster. He also apparently was real good with saving his money so is currently loaded and doesn't need the WWE. He's relaxing and living his life the way he wants now and quite honestly couldn't care less about the WWE right now. He could have come back at any time the last couple months and Vince would have welcomed him with open arms and a spot in the upper tier but Punk stayed home.

And who's to say any of this would even happen if Punk had stuck around. WWE was at one point at least considering having Batista face Orton for the WWE title while Bryan faced Sheamus and The Shield were rumored to be on the verge of a break up. I don't understand why(yes I do but I think it's stupid) the internet is so obsessed with thinking about how Punk is feeling and proclaiming that Punk has fucked himself over.

Punk is fine. He was burned out and not enjoying what he was doing. Why should he have stayed if that was the case?

Bottom line, Punk was never the voice of the voiceless. Punk was always looking out for Punk and only Punk.

Agreed 100% Punk is a self important asshole. Worst thing is, he is good on the mic and in the ring so it justified his beliefs in his mind.

TBH, who cares. WWE have shown they CAN make the product better without Punk (has only been two days tbf) and if he doesn't want to be part of it for whatever reasons, personal or otherwise, then let him be. I'm not overly fussed if he doesn't come back. He made his money when he was champ and I imagine that's enough for him to chillax. I would aswell if I had AJ in bed everynight.

Since when does someone who is "BEST IN THE WORLD" quit?

CM Punk is looking out for himself like some of you have said. I'm sure he didn't mean to upset the fans but in the long run I don't think he cares. He's put a lot into the world of professional wrestling & has gotten tired. He's resting. Now whether or not he goes back to doing what he loves after his nap is completely his own decision & should be left alone. He's living his life the way he wants to.

Imagine a world where every time you came home you would eat a sandwich. Maybe different kinds of sandwiches on different days, but a sandwich none the less. Everyday the same kind of process making the BEST sandwiches. Then one day you decide against a sandwich & have pizza instead. Then you just get shit on by everyone for trying something else. It'd be annoying trust me. Punk just has to do his own thing right now.

I miss Punk, though it wouldn't surprise me if he showed up at a Royal Rumble in the future. Ultimately Punk is doing what he needs to do and WWE seems to be doing just fine. The real test is yet to come, as the next few months are usually stale after Wrestlemania.

(On a side note, I am very glad I was able to find this site after WWE Club went under. Its good to see lots of familiar names. I never posted much but I was on the site almost every day.)

How many people actually miss Punk? A couple years ago, the idea of WWE without Punk seemed terrible. How many people actually even noticed Punk wasn't there Monday? Yeah he got a chant here and there but the show was great without him. The truth is, while he is great at what he does(when he actually tries), he isn't needed that much.

I miss Punk quite a bit. Think he would add a great deal to the product too.

Does no one remember Austin doing the exact same thing when he was asked to job to Lesnar?
