Film Club: Take 2

This took place on WWE-Club, and admittedly even I signed up for it but didn't end up contributing. However, with our tight-knit community I think this could work now.

I'm always after a new film to watch, but I never know which so this would be great for me. Every week (or two weeks, whatever) someone offers up a film for us to watch (via DVD, Netflix, Lovefilm, Download) and then we can all say what we thought of it and then the next person suggests one.

It doesn't have to be a full commitment, if someone can't watch one film then it doesn't matter we just move on. Whoever has watched it is free to discuss it. I think it'd be a good way to keep some active discussion going and also maybe get some lesser-known films some recognition. Or just an excuse to go back and watch a classic.

If people aren't up for it fair enough, but what do you think?

I signed up last time and didn't contribute, but I might be more willing to take part this time. For things like this a tighter community is really needed, I think. I had actually considered making the same suggestion.

That's why I thought it might work this time around. Even if there's only 4/5 of us, since we are much closer we're likely to be more heavily involved than 20/30 odd people all trying to discuss and organize something.

I reckon if enough people are interested, we could also dispense with the whole sign up process and just leave it open to the entire forum. That way we won't be putting anyone on the spot if they can't participate at a particular time.

I'm in if we can use Netflix and/or Amazon prime. I simply don't have the money to do dvds or any other pay sites.

You're going to quickly start excluding people if you only use Netflix or things like that. Because some people won't have Netflix, and I can tell you from first hand knowledge that Netflix doesn't have all the same films in each country. Over in Ireland we do not have nearly the same volume of films as you do in the US.

I definitely think trying to pick movies that are easily accessible online is a good idea, but I wouldn't want to completely exclude the possibility of picking something else.

Looks like people are up for this then! When do you guys think we should put the first film up, and how long do you think we should give between films? I don't want people to feel pressured into watching one, but similarly I do want to keep this moving at a decent pace.

I am definitely interested in trying this again. I think I was on of the few who actually did participate in the original one. It was a shame it didn't pick up. But I am always looking into watching more movies and this would certainly give me that push to do so. Count me in.

That's a good choice for a first film, seeing as I have already seen it.

I would offer my services to make the official thread, my broadband is pretty unreliable right now. It keeps working then not working. It's very frustrating. I wouldn't have to update the thread for this or whatever and not be able to get online. I am gonna have to call up my broadband provider and ask them what the deal is because it's getting annoying.

Will Smith is maybe my favorite actor of all-time and the Pursuit of Happyness is a fantastic film.

I'm in. I always have time to watch a film at night.

I was all in and around this last time. In fact, I think the movie I chose was the death of Movie Club 1. So Bottle Rocket is cursed, and therefore, off limits.

I've already seen The Pursuit... a couple of times so I won't be watching it again. It's good though. Enjoy.
