Maybe the pilot wanted to die and felt like playing a god and taking a bunch of innocents with him. It's a terrible event but mental illness could very well be involved if the pilot is indeed at fault.

But why would he change the course of the flight, wouldn't he have just plumpted towards the ground if that was the case
