Kofi Kingston - shit or get off the pot

Postby KaiserGlider » Jan 27, '14, 11:56 pm

Are they going to give this guy a legit push or what? He beats Orton clean, then loses clean to Del Rio in a match with no buildup. And it's not the first time that he's beaten Orton and then gone nowhere. If the WWE World Heavyweight Champion gets pinned in an upset, I'd like that to mean something. I wonder if Kofi will ever amount to anything other than being the happy Jamaican guy who's been bouncing around random matches on Raw for the last 5 years.

I've always wanted to see Kingston get a push but the WWE creative team has kept basically in the same spot for about half a decade, I'm not sure that he 'll be pushed for a world title.

Trust me I love Kingston but he doesn't really have great mic skills. Other than that I don't really see a problem with someone like him being world champion but I definitely agree with the idea of someone like Kingston as WWE WHC.

Don't forget a couple of years ago when Orton had Legacy & feuded with Kingston for like a month & a half while Orton was champ. I'm sure that that was the closet he'll get to a title but if I had it my way he'd be world champ right now.

The guy never goes anywhere. He just keeps having random pointless matches and gets a mid card title here and there.

He is always gonna be the mid card guy that has a knack for saving his ass at the rumble by doing weird shit.

It would be nice if they actually did something meaningful with him. The guy is impressive in the ring and the crowd like him. But I have a feeling he will always be stuck as a mid-carder.

At least Benjamin got two wins against HHH in 2004. The first one was billed a big upset and he got small push from it. Kingston is going nowhere atm.

Thing is Kofi is great in the roll they have him. He is a jobber plain and simple. But he is one of the jobbers that they throw a bone to from time to time so you don't immediately assume he will lose. They let him win so there is always that chance he will win so you watch. He is a jobber that can beat Orton on occasion to make you wonder where Orton's head will be at PPV. If that frustration will carry over. But he is still a jobber and he is damn good at it.

I think he's a victim of WWE's policy to only book a handful of real feuds at a time. He's not a great talker and he doesn't have a look or a personality that really stands out from everyone else's. He's got some unique skills, but not ones that they've ever been able to properly sell. As a result he's always pretty low down the list, when it comes to handing out real storylines. He'll only get one when the show is running low on stars due to injury/post-Wrestlemania veteran vacations.

I agree with ShaneOfan in that there's still a reason to keep him around, if he can have a competent match and play jobber to the stars. I'd rather see Kofi in a match and think he has the tiniest chance of winning than just watching people wail on no name jobbers instead. Plus, he is cool to have around for matches like Money in the Bank or the Royal Rumble where people like to see dazzling athletic feats.
