Roman Reigns

On the plus side, Roman Reigns had a really strong rumble and even broke Kane's elimination record. Let's give it up for the guy.

Guy has really impressed me since debuting and is one of my current top five favorites. Guess it will be him vs Ambrose and Rollins at Mania

Holy crap, he beat Kane's record? That's pretty insane. Nice to see the guy getting a big push, one of the big positives to come out of the PPV for sure.

What was the reaction when it was him and Batista? Please tell me it was pro-Reigns - and they booed the shit out of Batista winning.

I still don't understand how they are going to push Reigns, especially as a face though. He has a decent chemistry and intensity in the ring, but his promo persona is so bland that I don't see it working.

They could give him a manager I guess. One of the NXT divas.

Completely agree. Reigns had the best showing in the Rumble and having him break the record for eliminations was a great rub to give a rising star plus I really enjoyed it when the crowd popped huge for him when it was just him and Batista left. He has the look they tend to go for and I've been impressed with him for a while now, working with Ambrose and Rollins has done wonders for him plus being propped up by The Rock doesn't hurt.

Probably the same way Ryback got over as a face - they'll just have him be an absolute beast in the ring beating up bad guys and the crowd will get behind him. They might even try find him a catchphrase for the crowd to chant when he shows up the way 'Feed Me More' did well for Ryback before they buried him. Feuding opposite Ambrose will do him good in the coming months.

But the Ryback face run was short lived because his flaws ultimately showed through and giving him a manager doesn't make a lot of sense, when was the last time a WWE face had a manager and that was a successful pairing? Managers are a heel thing in the world of WWE.

Are they pushing Reigns as a face? Is there anything that suggests he's going to be leaving the Shield?

I think it'd be a mistake to break him off from the group at this point.

I'd disagree and say the reason Ryback failed is because his first actual feud was with CM Punk for the WWE Title and since RAW 1000 everyone knew that Punk was keeping the title until the Royal Rumble 2013 to face The Rock. Ryback never had a chance of winning and so for three consecutive months he was screwed out of the title.

When The Rock eventually did come back Ryback was merely swept aside and put with Mark Henry at Wrestlemania - a match he lost. Ryback went like 8 PPV's without a win and so the crowd had no reason to take him seriously. WWE tried turning him heel but he sucked and that's when his flaws began to show. If WWE hadn't buried him as a face for the best part of a year Ryback could've been hugely successful.

I'm sure that they'll use the fact that he eliminated Ambrose & Rollins as some kind of angle of "disruption" within the Shield followed by some events where the Shield don't get along as a team to break the group up & build them up as solo performers.

He did great at the Rumble & I hope that we start to see the 3 of them shine as solo competitors but I agree that it's definitely NOT time to break the Shield up as a group

Yeah, but Batista's always was too. And Reigns has a better look (in my opinion) and is an awful lot better in the ring. He has a charismatic presence about him, I have to say. For someone like that, it's easy to get lost in the shuffle, but with good booking behind him he can definitely go places.

It was great seeing the crowd turn so pro-Reigns when it got down to him versus Batista. Must have been a nice moment for him. He definitely was the show stealer in the Rumble match. It's kind of irritating to think of what a good performance he put on, whereas Batista just showed up as #28 and won. He barely did anything. He put no work into increasing anyone's enjoyment of the match. He just sauntered out to pick up the win. Reigns in comparison worked his ass off and made it HIS Rumble.

It was unquestionably pro-Reigns. The crowd did not want Batista to win and they were firmly behind Reigns.
