Biritsh Comedy

Just watched Russell Howard at the Hammersmith Apollo or something like that. My questions are what is a stag do, Lidle, and are you all this looney? :lol

We're not all as crazy as Howard, but he is a pretty good comedian. I have a couple of his DVDs and even went to see him live in Belfast 2 or 3 years ago. He's a class act.

A stag do is slang for a stag party. That's the European equivalent of a Bachelor party.

Lidl is a chain supermarket set up by Germans. You can find branches of the store everywhere throughout Europe and the British Isles. Lidl is known for selling everything at very cheap prices (it kills basically all of the other supermarket chains in Ireland). It also has a lot of knock off products, many of which are still very good. We tend to buy our fruit and veg in there, as they've got a great selection. :P

He also said something about reformed meats? Is that sold at Lidl? He made it sound like it was leftovers :lol

I don't particularly find him funny but I don't watch stand ups but tbf, his show Good News has some very apt segments.

Speaking of comedians, how has Jack Whitehall got his own show and got comedian of the year award recently? He's not even that funny.

I have never particularly found Russell Howard all that funny. He has a few little "heh" moments, but that's about it. To me, a great comedian should have you laughing constantly.

Jack Whitehall is just shit. He just keeps getting bigger and bigger and I just don't understand it.

Jack Whitehall & Russell Howard are definitely over rated, I think the best british stand up comedians are Jon Richardson and Sean lock...also Ricky Gervais' stand up stuff is incredibly funny and I recommend watching his stuff

Ricky Gervais is just terrible in all his endeavours. He's one of the most irritating comedians out there. Can't stand any of his stuff - acting or stand up.

Really? Not even The Office? That is one of my best ever comedies.

I've not seen any of his work since The Office although did catch series one of that one he did with that little guy, can't remember his name. Ghost-Town I didn't think were too bad either as Gervais as the grumpy dentist.

Jack Whitehall is decent in Fresh Meat - that's about it. He's really milked the life out of his 'posh' gimmick, I mean I know he's posh but it factors into his material so often it's getting boring. Whilst we're on the subject of British comedy - how fucking amazing is Peep Show?

You thinking of Life's Too Short with Warwick Davis?

Also I really enjoyed Ghost-Town. I quite liked The Invention Of Lying too, mostly at least, got a little grating at the end.

Couldn't agree with you more sir.

My favourite comedian working in the UK is Ed Byrne.

Mr. Bean :headbang Rowen Atkinson is funny as hell. The fact that he can make so many people laugh while barely saying a word is great! Saw his "stand up" special as well. Loved it.

He's a favourite of mine too, but he's Irish not British. Though as you said, he does work in the UK. Of the Irish comedians I know, Ed Byrne is my favourite after Dara O'Brien. He's probably my favourite current stand up comedian.
