Which game has the most annoying fanbase?

I'll throw Call of Duty out there. The series seems to be treated as the be-all and end-all of online gaming, and from my experience it seems to be full of angry 12 year olds calling each other faggots, but when it turns out one of the players on their team is a girl, you witness the most fantastic display of white knighting. That being said, I remember a while back seeing a load of 9Gag posts on Facebook about how women don't understand the games and how a guy should prefer to spend time on COD than with his girlfriend. It was pretty cringeworthy.

The hardcore Assassin's Creed fanbase can get pretty weird too. My housemate is even considering getting an AC tattoo - I like the games, but really? He said he wants the 'nothing is true; everything is permitted' line tattooed on his arm. I've always hated that line - if nothing was true, it's wrong that everything is permitted. It falsifies itself. Call of Duty probably takes the cake though.

The Call of Duty haters are way more annoying than the Call of Duty fans. They're so self-righteous. I don't even play CoD all that much any more but CoD hate is just so trite at this point that I roll my eyes every time I see someone take a cheap shot at it.

I can't really think of any game fanbases that truly annoy me, but if I had to choose one... hm. I guess Assassin's Creed is a good one, because a lot of them seem to think that the games should be immune to criticism, particularly AC3 which was pure ass.

Sorry, COD fans can be bad, but not nearly as bad as Battlefield fans. Battlefield fans don't seem toe realizes it's the same fucking game. They both release a war game every year or so. With a shitty storyline, multi-player mode which save for a perk or gun or two is the same shit on a "new" map. Then they charge you $10 more every few months for three new maps and a gun. It's the same thing only what makes Battlefield players worse is they seem to think they are vastly superior.

Yeah I knew a couple battlefield fans, they thought they were so much better than COD fans, but in reality they are all the same. Fans of a stupid war game.

I've never understood the argument that CoD is a bunch of kids cursing and acting like idiots. Even if it's true, when I used to play CoD I'd just go into a party with the people I was playing with, or myself, then you don't have to hear all the screaming idiots. Problem solved.

I love Assassins Creed and it is probably one of my favorite game series, but even I have to admit that AC3 was pretty weak. So much so, it has put on on the fence about buying Black Flag. Which I still most likely will.

I would have to say CoD. I mean, it's a fun game to play but Jesus, these people need to get a grip.

I don't see what's so bad about CoD anyway. I don't play every game in the series, but when I had Black Ops I had a blast playing that online.

Mass Effect

It's not because the fans of this game are bad people or completely insufferable. And it's not because these are the worst games in the world or anything like that. It's simply because from my experience, Mass Effect fans really like to talk about Mass Effect. A lot.

And while the Mass Effect games might be good (I wouldn't know, I haven't played them), for someone who hasn't played Mass Effect, Mass Effect is a pretty boring subject of conversation.

I absolutely love the game, I think it is the best franchise in gaming ever. I even have a tattoo representing the game. But I understand completely what you mean. I you are not into he game, there are many plot details or even planets, species, weapons, etc. that mean nothing.

Also World of Warcraft fans. Not so much now but when it was at its peak WOW fans basically dedicated their life to it. I knew few people back in highschool that would literally wake up, go to school, go home, play WOW, eat, sleep and do it all over again. All they had to talk about was WOW because it was pretty much their life.

I agree Cod has an annoying fanbase, but honestly I find it depends on the game type within the game. If you play a mindless deathmatch quick respawn, yes, you are very likely to find kids with short attention span that are looking for a game that is "GO GO GO!" but hardcore, or capture the flag, bomb missions, etc. seem to be a little different. I throw BF in with CoD annoyance levels, but I also truly don't deal with them that much because more often than not, I am playing with friends and voice chatting with them so everything else is more a buzz.

I find these fast pace shooters just tend to lend themselves more to the ADHD type mentality, which is unfortunately encouraged by America as a whole. (so in a sense it caters to their fans correctly). The low health makes charging in easier reward for more faster killing, so less teamwork is demonstrated in Deathmatch. Don't get me wrong, correct teamwork is always better, but the gametype itself to most at first glance, teamwork isn't necessary. Sorry, went on a tangent there, on the other side though, since "I" don't deal with it much I can also agree, Cod/BF fan haters can be just as bad.

It's not really a game fanbase particularly, but it is kind of the same subject. I really get irritated whenever the topic of PC shooter vs. Console shooter comes into play. I play both so I see the ups and downs of either side, but most people who like one more than the other (so most people) refuse to budge on their point of view. Maybe it bothers me because I have a friend who is guilty of this, but man it is annoying.

I don't play much online with random people so I don't know I normally play with friends I know since I can't stand cheaters. However it this Sony and Microsoft fan boys are the worst because they both claim there system is better. I for one own both so I can get the best of both world but yet to get any new system till the new year.

As a gamer, I tend to hate all gamer fanbases.

CoD, Battlefield, console VS console VS PC, hardcore fans of MMO's, doesn't matter. It always seems the "general populace" of online multiplayer gaming are filled with know-it-all horrible dipshits. You can't succeed/get to the "top" in these major online games without playing how everyone says you should play, whether it's a shooter (wanting you to be a specific class), or an MMO where you have to have the exact same build/setup as everyone else, with the same gear.. etc.

So I rarely play massive online games anymore. When I do, like World of Warcraft, it usually ends up that I solo and don't play with anyone - if the game was single player I'd be perfectly fine with that. Though I love online games, I usually just don't socialize anymore.

My current favorite game of all time is Minecraft with a modpack (currently Feed the Beast: Unleashed 1.1.3) because I can play privately on my server with whoever I invite, dick around doing things how I want with no cocksure arrogant prick telling me how to do it.

As someone who isn't at all a gamer and has a completely out-of-the-circle perspective: the people who are obsessed with PC gaming and hate consoles. They're the most annoying, because I actually know that they exist. Everyone else mentioned in this thread I can just block out of my existence because I don't play those games. But those PC-circlejerkers are something else.

I disagree! I believe most vocal online gamers are the worst. There is a vast majority of chill people who play, but just don't bother to socialize and be drawn into such drama. Like yourself.
