Are you guys at least getting the full version of the Network?

Because if so, you're still ahead of us in Canada, where we get a stripped down, messed up version where there's barely any classic stuff at all and you're forced to pay 11.99 for a TV channel that airs the stuff, which isn't even available in half the country.

Well as it stands, we're not getting it full stop :lol

Canada network does sound ultra sucky though, hardly worth bothering with really :/

Hold on, they announced it 20 minutes before it was due to launch?

Holy fuck :lol With this kind of shit they absolutely deserve the disaster they've had in terms of the losses they've taken with the network.

Twitter has exploded with thousands of irate UK fans and their pitchforks. It's amazing.

Honestly it wouldn't be so bad if they didn't wait till 15/20mins before it was due to be released. Surely they must have known sooner? And the lack of explanation, what's that about?

@Twister - hope you don't mind but I thought I'd tweak the title of this thread to better reflect what has happened :lol

What an absolute joke. Final nail in the coffin for me, I wasn't overly keen on getting the network anyway but now I could give a fuck - the way they've handled this has been appalling.

Nice way to warm relations with the UK fans ahead of a tour...

You'd expect this sort of a dick move by TNA tbh.

Looking for a gif to sum up this shit move by WWE?

Nah, TNA like their fans. For all their faults, they're a lot less inclined to dick people around.

Bad form by WWE, but for some reason I had a feeling things weren't going to go smoothly with the UK release.

So it's hard to source information from Twitter but it looks like it's Sky.

Sky have posted a short term injunction preventing PPVs to be distributed in the UK as they have an exclusive contract.

I can't seem to grasp in my mind why the WWE would grant Sky exclusive rights to their PPV's. I just don't understand. It already screws Virgin Media customers who have no option of getting a HD feed of the PPV and have to purchase the Standard Def one through VM off Sky.

How can they be this fucking stupid. This moronic. This retarded. This John Cena-like and still make money? How does it happen?

The UK fanbase may have tipped them over that magical 1million mark and 15mins before the launch they remember they gave Sky exclusive rights to the PPVs? Seriously? This isn't a fucking DVD you're promising to lend someone only to remember you actually gave it to your fucking creepy uncle who touched you one Christmas... jeez.

If that's the case surely they could release the network in the UK and just announce that PPV's won't be included (for the time being) due to the contract with Sky. Pulling the Network all together is just fucking shit by them, particularly so close to the release.

The whole Network launch has been botched from the get go, in every country. WWE clearly wasn't ready for it to be rolled out but decided they needed the publicity and the dollars from it anyway and the result has been obvious.

The saddest part is that for people like me who are longtime fans, the ability to watch any old show you wanted, anytime, in its entirety for a reasonable price point is like a dream scenario. Now due to their incompetence, the whole thing might end up crashing and burning and it's us as consumers and fans that will be left getting screwed out of something good.

30 minutes before launch. Has any company in history ever pulled the rug out from a customer this late in the process. At least to this level. Even if the Network has some bugs that need fixing I would still roll it out to keep customer loyalty. Now they run the risk of losing many customers do to frustration.

^^^ The thing I find interesting about the Network and how their focal point works is they are actively downplaying the classic material. It's almost like they feel if they promote the hell out of the old stuff people will forget the new stuff and spend all of their time they dedicate to watching wrestling to watching the old stuff, which obviously wouldn't be good for WWE or their broadcast partners. It's an interesting Catch-22 of sorts.

Have to say completely agree Sky's point of view and it's a BIG oversight by the WWE really.

Why shouldn't Sky challenge this when they've put money into the contract and for PPV's to be on the Network at the snippet price compared to Box Office? They'd do the same if the Premier League decided to create an online facility to show PL games at a smaller price etc.

Surely, the alternative is to not show PPVs through the Network and a bigger back catalogue of shows.

I wouldn't agree with Sky. Sky are really anti competition when it comes to contracting sporting events and entertainment. It's only been recently that BT Sport has been able to make a dent in their total monopoly of everything sporting related in the country. Or atleast Football and Rugby related.

Why the hell would you want to agree with Sky holding exclusivity over everything, when competition (in theory) would benefit us as consumers. Imagine if Virgin, BT and Sky all had to compete to get your hard earned money for the sports you like to watch.

Waiting for people to start proclaiming that this is the beginning of the end for wwe *tongue firmly in cheek* :P

Oh and Sky suck. I flat out refuse to pay their ridiculous prices for their TV packages, I never really liked them as a company in general, it's the reason why I haven't watched wwe on a regular basis for going on 10 years now.
