Cena's promo on Raw

Hogan was immortal and booked pretty much the same way and he brought the company to heights it had never reached before. Maybe that would explain why Vince treats Cena essentially the same way. He must not realize it's not 1988 anymore and what worked best then might not work best now.

Yeah, that's true. But I think a lot of why these things worked with Hogan is because wrestling was a lot newer and people hadn't seen as much. With Hogan the company could get away with just stacking up a much larger opponent against him. That was enough to make him look vulnerable. Nowadays, we've seen enough David vs Goliath confrontations that this will never be enough for us to see someone as the underdog. We've seen Great Khali being beaten by guys literally half his size. The way the characters respond to things is a lot more important now.

John Cena's promo's lately have really come across as egotistical lately..........even going back to his first WWE World Title match with Brock Lesnar, he likes to point out that the WWE is "His house", how he is "The Top Guy in the Business", and then there's the "I've beaten evryone that's been put in front of me" in his recent feud with Rusev...........................his Ego is getting out of control, and I know that if Rollins made this claim he woujld be booed out oif the building, but because Cena's face........no one takes a second glance.
