PSA: Don't buy Arkham Knight on PC

Postby SlightlyJames » Jun 23, '15, 10:38 am

Figured I'd provide a heads up to anyone considering buying the new Batman on PC. People are reporting that the PC version has been horrendously done, there are huge frame drops when doing anything as intensive as gliding and the Batmobile is even worse, this is even on fantastic rigs by the way. The port was outsourced to a team of 12 guys and not a particularly competent one. I'd stay well away from this until they fix it.

In better news I've just got the game and I'm so excited to start it.

It has a massive download when you first put the game in but I'm just going to begin anyway. It says network features are disabled, does that mean anything significant?

Also I'm already sort of wary of Jonathan Banks as Jim Gordon because all I hear is Mike from Breaking Bad.

Probably wouldn't worry about the network features, it's a single player game. I didn't even know it had any online functionality.

Itso facto we may as well just make this the main thread for Arkham Knight...

...speaking of I've just met the character for the first time and he's...well...

Spoiler:
Chatty. I guess I expected him to be a mute for the majority of the game (at least the early scenes) to add to the mystery of who he is but he's the opposite and I'm not sure how I feel about it.

I fucking hate the high amount of batmobile combat you have to do in this game.

How are the first few games on PC? I picked them up on Steam during the Steam Sale cus I'd never played any of em before and have heard good things.

Asylum and City are pretty great, I never had any gripes with them. Origins wasn't so smooth but it wasn't unplayable. Performance aside Origins is the weakest of the games, though. It's a prequel done by a different team while Rocksteady were making Arkham Knight.

So the PC version of the game is such a piece of shit that they've pulled it from Steam. On top of the fact the port was done by 12 people, it's also been found that it was done in 8 weeks. How in the fuck did they think that was okay?
