Can someone explain to me the abundance of quiz shows on day time television and why women over the age of 40 seem to be obsessed with them?

I saw the best one yesterday - 'The Edge'

It combines general knowledge with bowling. You have to get a certain number of questions right to unlock a ball, then you bowl it down an alley, and the further it goes the more money you get.

I watched in amazement that ITV would actually put out this shit. But then again, they put out Amazing Greys.

Are any of you actually voting in the election?

I don't think I will - I voted for the Lib Dems last time around and look where that got me.

The problem is, who do you vote for? Labour is pretty much Tory-Lite these days, and the party is headed up by a black hole of charisma and ineptitude. The Lib-Dems lost all credibility when they jumped in bed with the Tories. The Green Party have about as much chance of getting elected as I do. I'd rather cut off my nutsack and post it to David Cameron (maybe that could be some kind of statement about them selling off Royal Mail?) than vote UKIP.

Either way we're all getting fucked. Choosing between the length and width of the cock in which we will be fucked with isn't very appealing.

Well, in my area it's literally a choice between Conservatives and Lib Dems, there was something like 175 votes in it last time. There are other candidates from Labour, Green and UKIP but they don't stand a chance of getting in so based on that I'll probably be voting Lib Dem, probably not the best reason to vote for them but the Lib Dem MP here admittedly has done a pretty good job round here and I do agree with a lot of what she says.

It is really difficult though, they're all pretty shitty when it comes down to it. You just gotta pick the best of a bad bunch.

Local constituencies aside, all of the candidates for PM are complete and utter fuckwits who I'd be embarrass to be seen running our country. Seeing Miliband hand in hand with Obama would make me sick because he's a slimy toff pretending to be a man of the people despite not knowing how to eat a bacon sandwich like a normal human being. That said so are the rest of them - the lesser of all evils is Clegg but the Lib Dems have less of chance of winning than UKIP do (which is humiliating for the country). If you don't vote Tory or Labour anything else feels like a protest vote and what good does that do?

I might just tick other and write Taj's name down.

Hijacking the Sainsbury's courtesy bus and forcing people who just wanted to get a shop done to hold signs ... the unscrupulous bastard.

In all seriousness, I'm surprised he managed to get twelve people to sign up for this.

:lol

This election has been pretty interesting. I've not really had much chance to post any lengthy thoughts here about it. My thoughts on the debate were like everyone elses really. Ed looked weird. Nigel was a fuckwit. Cameron lied. The ladies were the only ones talking sense but really only one of them was applicable to us and Natlie Bennett has about as much chance at being elected as I do.

This whole election has been an interesting showcase on how much our current system doesnt work. Even just on the debate level. Why on earth were SNP and Plaid Cymru even involved as much as they were. I agree with a lot of what they said, especially Nicola Sturgeon but it's not at all applicable to me. All SNP and Plaid Cymru were there for were to take pot shots at the other parties and to get their agenda's across.

it's telling that there's no real favourite to win. Nick Clegg, Ed Milliband and David Cameron all have their good and bad points. In theory Nick Clegg should be the best candidate for what we need but the reality is that the Liberal Democrats don't have the numbers to hold any real majority of their own just yet. We don't need as much austerity as David Cameron is promising. But the fact is it has worked to a point. We just don't need cuts where he's proposing. But, obviously, he's not going to cut where is needed. Like the rich.

Miliband is just not a leader. He's sniveling, back tracking and untrustworthy. Labour these days are nothing like the left wing party they should be anyway. Miliband will most likely cowtow to whatever authority figures in the Labour party tell him to do, whatever he gets bullied into in the Commons and whatever he gets bulled into with Foreign leaders. People tend to forget that New Labour made a lot of decisions that were pretty much Conservative. They gave a lot ot big business and they really hit the working class and middle classes hard at times. I do agree with him on the fact that we need to stay in Europe. Even having a referendum is dangerous. We need to work together with the rest of Europe. We're not the conquering Empire we once were.

Migration is just a fact of life. The world is made smaller by technology and engineering. People always think of migration as a one way street. As if it's just the filthy Polish people that come here and no one ever leaves. But we do leave. We are all free to leave (within reason) and go and work and live in Germany or France or Spain or wherever else you want to go in Europe. That's one of the beauties of the European Union and Cameron is smoking grade A crack if he thinks he can negotiate out of that. Even if he does, it will hurt us.

The problem with the Liberal Democrats are the fact that they're in no position to ever command any convincing lead to run the country. They're the party most aligned with my sensibilities and I believe they are the party that would be right for this country at the moment. Maybe some will disagree and I welcome that but I do think their policies and taxation would benefit the country as a whole. It's a shame some of their greatest minds and assets weren't used in the Coalition and maybe the enter Coalition has tarnished their reputation for sometime (free University, lol jokes, fees are going up).

The problem with our current state in this country is that we have parties who are reactively putting time and effort on immigration because of UKIP. We have two major parties concerned with the budget (as they should be) but both parties will stunt growth trying to defeat the problem. The resession hit hard for people my age. There's no much growth, little opportunity. I'm 28 and i'm no where near getting my own place. I have no savings to get such a place because the cost of living as gone up significantly. I just went and spent 60 quid on a shop that won't last a week. These are real life concerns and unfortunately, while the budget does impact those problems, we're probably taking a larger hit than we need to when it comes to "balancing the books". Long term growth is earned through spending. The richer the people, the richer the country. That is unless all the money is going to very few select places and people and funelled overseas.

It's difficult to know who to vote for at this current stage. I don't think either party will do good and the parties that really we want to garner a larger amount of support, Green and Lib Dems won't get it. If we're lucky UKIP will die out but who knows. There's lots of brainless racist chavs that could cast their votes this time round.

As for your comment about voting for me, it's not the first time i've ever thought about running for local council or politics in general. My problem is that I don't really have time to research the finer points and I just like to commentate on the general proceedings. Who know's though, maybe one day. I know i'd do better than Gove.

I will also add that you should all go and vote regardless. It's hugely important that you do. The only way our generation ever gets a say is if we speak up. Our turn out rate for our age group was woeful. Rich, old people were turning out and voting for what works for them. Not us.

They fucked the country.

We need to take it back and fix it. Fucking out vote the fuckers and hopefully they'll die out and free up some extra cash.

(that last comment was a joke... sort of)

Unfortunately, the parties in my constituency are limited so if they were in my area, I'd vote Greens because they do seem a progressive party despite the road crash of an interview their leader did a few months ago.

I'll probably vote Lib Dems because they are the lesser of all evils. I voted for them last time and I really don't have faith in the Labour/Tory parties and it's depressing to see the rise of UKIP and people voting for them because "they'll sort immigration out!" not realising the deep seated nastiness of their party and their prejudices and themes seeping threw them that stink of the far right.

But do vote, most definitely.

Not exactly British related, but dear christ do I need to rant.

Bought a blind to hang up in my bathroom window. Been slowly redecorating in there for what feels like forever. Had a improvised curtain hanging up in the window, which was supposed to only be for a week or so, but has turned into over a year at this point and I was finally sick of it. Blind bought, should be a twenty minute job at most. The fucking drill decides to die on me, making a mess of the second hole. No problem, go to recharge the drill so I can finish the job. Can't find the charger. Never mind, I know I have another drill somewhere. Fill in the original holes as they were a little bit too big after the original drill went haywire on me, and decide to restart a little higher up. It gets a little bit too dark to really see the markings, so I decide to finish the job the next day. At some point the next day, my mother decides to paint over the patchup job I did on the original holes. She uses a darker shade of red than my wall is, which winds up with me re-painting the entire fucking bathroom.

Now, that's done, re-marked the walls so I can finally put this sodding blind up. Begin drilling. The drill but gets stuck about an inch shorter than I need to go. Begin drilling the second hole. Same thing. Can't go any further. In my frustration, but the drill down, go to lay down on my bed ... one side of the bed collapses as a final fuck you.

I have been defeated by life.

Favourite places in London?

I'm in Euston for the day, work meeting. Seems a nice place here, everywhere's a bit busy though. I quite like Covent Garden despite it's busyness, Camden Town is also great for a day out.

If you ever find yourself in Euston, there's a pub about half a mile from Euston Underground called the Crown and Anchor. Had lunch there today, they make a solid fish and chips. It was £12 and I mainly bought it because I had about an hour to waste, but it was worth every penny. The landlord has an incredible viking-like ginger beard as well, probably worth the trip just to marvel at it, tbh.
