Yeah I've been in more than my share with none of them being my fault. The first time I was ever in an accident I was driving around the town I went to college in and was on what amounted to a four lane road with a turn lane on this stretch. I pulled into the turn lane to turn left at an intersection when some moron came pulling out of a fast food restaurant to make a left turn where left turns were illegal. As I was pulling up they T-boned my passenger side, then drove off. Oh that one pissed me off.

A little while later while I was in college I was driving on a highway and some idiot tried to whip around me, but they misjudged the angle and slammed into the back corner of my car, that one hurt a little bit since we were both travelling in the mid-60's at time of impact.

One time I was stopped at a red light in a line of traffic that was also stopped. All of the sudden some kid decided to scoot up for some reason that misses common logic and he rear ended me right in front of a police station.

The last one was the worst, I was driving one winter and hit a patch of black ice and swerved off the road where I ran head on into a telephone pole. I totaled my vehicle, my chest was all bruised from where the seat belt restricted me and I definitely had whiplash.

Back in 2008 I was in a pretty major car accident. I was driving back to college after Thanksgiving break and I was on the highway. The weather was down right awful. It was freezing, windy, and had some severe freezing rain. My car wasn't really built for that weather and I was sliding for a while. I tried to slow down and lost control of the car. I slammed into the guard rail on my right, my car started spinning and kept spinning across the highway until I hit the other guard rail. My car came to a stop next to the second guard rail and off the road (thankfully). I was very lucky that no one else was around and the highway was pretty empty or I may have hurt someone else. I was luckily not too hurt (horrible stiff neck for days), but my car was thrashed. Everytime I drive in horrible weather I think about that day, because I am very lucky to be alive and very lucky for those guard rails.

When I was a kid I was involved in a minor bump, really nothing to write home about. My mum was driving and we were in slow moving traffic, the car at the front of the queue braked suddenly and the cars behind went into the back of each other. I was fine though and went to school as normal that day. Apart from that I've never crashed, had a couple of close shaves though.

A couple of years ago I was driving along, the car ahead of me was slowing down and I did the same but the car behind me didn't and went into the back of me. I thought it was just a little bump until I got out the car. His car was a write off, the whole front was crushed in... Luckily the car I was driving was a big 4x4 so had next to no damage! No one could believe the picture I had of the other car compared to the slight bumper damage I had.

The year I helped build PubTalk, that September I was in a pretty bad wreck (which lead to most of the code and images being done with one hand). Cop blamed me, but I must admit after these years I still feel the other party was in the very least part to blame.

I was taking a left hand turn into a gas station. The truck ahead of me turned in before me, and was going very slowly (dude was like 110 years old). So when I looked the first few times, no cars were coming (or else they would have creamed the old man). When he finally got his turn finished and I went to turn, a car popped the hill and nailed me. Granted, there was security footage that showed they had plenty of time to stop and they didn't even apply their brakes. They were also going about 30mph over the speed limit. Still, in the state that I live in, it was auto my fault for being in the wrong lane.

Every one ended up okay but it was scary because life light helicopters got involved. Luckily all turned out fine, but the airbag that deployed in my vehicle blew my left hand OFF. The only thing holding my hand to my body was skin and a ligament or two. I had totally severed at the joint, torn muscles and ligaments and nerves and all sorts of shit.

I'm lucky today that my left hand functions almost perfectly, at the cost that I can't lift much with it and it hurts all the damn time.

I learned a lesson from the experience, though. Triple checking is not enough. Check at least 10 times and ignore the people behind you calling you a 110 year old man for driving slow.

I've had my share of them lol all of them my fault during my drug and alcohol abuse days. I wrecked 4 cars in 3 states the worst one was in Las Vegas when I was living out there. I was driving after drinking a bottle of crown and 2 tall boys of Budweiser and lost control of my car at the time a 86 Pontiac Grand Prix crashed through the median totaled the car broke my right leg in 4 places broke my right wrist. Broke 3 ribs and got a concussion. I ended up doing a bit of Jail time over it.

Been in a couple, none caused by me. Worst was when i was 16ish and was in the back seat of a friends car pulling into a gas station (under 5mph) when we got rear ended by a 1 ton ford truck going 60mph+ and never hit the brakes.

I still to this day 15 years later have neck, shoulder and back issues from it. I was also young and stupid at the time and signed a release of liability to the insurance company for what seemed like a large payout. In retrospect, what i was paid then has long been overshadowed by the costs of doctors, tests, treatments and drugs needed to couter the damages sustained from the crash

I had one when I was a passenger and turning into a supermarket car park, someone bumped into us and had whiplash.

Most notable one for me was when I tried, as a 16 year old, to start up the family car for my brother to help him as he got ready one morning. I was probably half asleep myself, started the car not realising it wasn't fully in neutral, car moved forward and caught the corner of the house wall. Luckily, not much damage and sadly, that incident has affected me now to the point I am fully licensed but hesitant to get behind the wheel and comfortable to rely on public transport.
