How much do you share with your friends?

My fiancee thinks I'm weird because my friends and I never really talked about our sexual exploits growing up/in college. Apparently among people she knows, they tend to share a ton of that kind of stuff. Maybe it's just me, but I never really had an interest in what my friends were up to in regard to that stuff and never really considered it my business, but there you go.

How much are you willing to share with your friends?

I tend to keep my sex life stuff to myself. I guess that kind of comment looks suspicious with Kirbi on the board, but she was my mate long before she was my girlfriend, so she'll know that I'm being honest there.

Most of my friends are the same to be honest, they don't tend to talk about that kind of stuff. Though back when I was like 17-21, there were a few of my friends who wouldn't shut up about their sex lives. To the extent where they'd be perfectly comfortable if one of their friends walked in while they were doing it. Some of them used to sit around watching porn together, though I never really understood the appeal of watching porn as a group activity with a bunch of heterosexual men.

I'm a fairly open book with some of my friends, but with others I don't ever share anything deeply personal. I only usually share personal things if they're troubling me and I need to rant or need an outsider's perspective.

I have always been very reticent. In general, I find it difficult to express deeply personal and secretive things to others. I am always the listener, especially amongst my friends. I am rather detached and lot of this stems from personal things that have happened in my life. But it's also the same with my girlfriend. She is very open and very candid about intimate and personal subjects, but I'll keep it all to myself. The only way I can express myself, really, is artistically - through the mediums of filmmaking, writing and poetry. This is where I can openly share whatever I feel, without constraint and with deliverance.

I will talk to a friend about my preferences, but never about what I have done with a specific person. I can say what experiences I have had or whatnot but when it goes on the specificity of whom I don't disclose the info. Just with this one friend, I dunno what made our friendship develop in such a way but none of my other friends really delve into that kind of subject.

I actually was just reading on reddit today, in general most guys are a bit more vague on the subject talking to each other about sex while girls are much more detailed in their experiences. Like, reaaalllly detailed.

That is definitely an odd thing to do. Although if there was news of some sort of celebrity sex tape that peaked our interests, we would normally try and check it out together.

I used to be a lot more open about things, but as I've gotten older I've become a lot more private. My sex life just isn't something I feel the need to talk about really. I've become a lot more private when it comes to other aspects of my life too.

Don't really discuss sex life details but I am too open with my friends about my personal life and I find, at times, they don't reciprocate. They tend to keep their things to themselves, yet are willing to listen to my things comfortably. I guess they should feel comfortable talking about their problems at their own pace but just frustrates me that they don't feel comfortable confiding in me.

Have you been a little more aggressive in asking them about what's going on? Maybe sneak it up in a sense too, like if you are experiencing something, ask them what they would do or if they have had a similar situation.

No, I don't think so. I think I've asked questions in a polite and genuinely interested tone.

Last week one of my friends shared with the group that his girlfriend wanted to try "pegging"... Once you learn something like that, spending time with the two of them in social situations is never the same.
