Potential Wrestlemania card

Postby Viazon » Feb 23, '15, 6:14 pm

So I have been thinking about what the final Wrestlemania card will look like. We know there are already two confirmed matches.

Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar
Triple H vs Sting

I have been thinking about what the rest of the card will look like. Some of the more likely matches are as followed.

John Cena vs Ruzev
Seth Rollins vs Randy Orton
Bray Wyatt vs Undertaker
Goldust vs Stardust
The Miz vs Damien Mizdow
Dean Ambrose vs Bad News Barrett

That is already 8 potential matches. There will also most likely be a Divas match. I would also like for the tag titles to be defended. I still have no idea what Daniel Bryan or Ziggler will be doing. And Sheamus is also set to return. I would like to see all of these wrestlers involved but most likely, one of these potential matches will be on the Pre-Show.

Some of those matches may seem horrible to some but a few of them could be decent if given its full potential. Rollins vs Orton is one I would particularly look forward to.

How would you like to see the final Wrestlemania card look like?

It looks like a solid, but unspectacular Mania card. There's nothing really that screams out "must see", which is probably what your biggest show of the year should have. That being said I think there are some potentially good to great matches that could pick things up. This is a show that looks like the whole may be better than the sum of it's parts.

The biggest problem I see is that the most hyped matches on the card, and the potential main event matches have the potential to be underwhelming from an in ring standpoint. Here's my breakdown:

WILD CARD MATCHES:
(These matches could range from terrible to good, the overall success of the show will likely depend on how these matches turn out)

Reigns vs Lesnar: Should be intriguing if for no other reason than to see how the crowd reacts, and whether Lesnar car "carry" Reigns to a good match. The Main Event often has the pressure of the whole show on it's back, so if this match is a clusterfuck, people will say the show is bad, where as if this match is even decent, it'll drag people's opinions up.

Triple H vs Sting: Is the "special attraction" match which means it has the pressure of being the match a lot of the older or casual fans who tune into only Mania will be judging the show on. Triple H is capable of putting on good matches even now, but Sting is the wildcard, we didn't see much in the way of good performances in TNA from him. No one knows how he will perform under the pressure and in his first match in a long time.

Bray Wyatt vs Undertaker: Undertaker's first match since the streak ending will be a big deal. I don't know how good the build will be, but Taker is old as we all know and there is a lot of doubt about whether he can handle the rigours of putting on a good match again. Now unlike last year he is against a full timer who is much younger, so hopefully the youthful exuberance of Wyatt can make Taker look young again for one night.

SURE THINGS (Matches that are pretty likely to be good to great matches given those involved)

Cena vs Rusev: They had a decent first match at Fastlane and I think after being a bit more familiar with each other going into Mania, the two of them can put on a good match. Cena always elicits a strong crowd reaction too which helps. Cena is no stranger to Mania and I think he can up his game to make this worthy of Mania.

*Bryan vs Ziggler/Sheamus: Should the Ziggler match happen, it will almost certainly be a great match from an in ring standpoint and could very well be match of the night or the undercard match that everyone is still talking about. Sheamus as a heel should be able to put on a strong in ring match as well and hopefully he can build up some good heat leading into Mania to make it special.

Orton vs Rollins: These two have the built in feud already and if they can keep Orton as the bad ass, stalking guy who doesn't talk a lot and just hands out RKO's to people he should be fine. Rollins is great and the two of them in ring should be able to pull off a good match and an underdog for MOTN.

UNDERCARD (Matches with decent builds that won't hurt the card, but could help)

Miz vs Mizdow: This feud has been built up really well, with Miz doing some damn fine heel work and Mizdow as the sympathetic babyface. The moment Mizdow finally has enough and pops Miz will get a massive reaction and should be a memorable moment in his career. This match likely won't be special, but could be a nice match that gets a good crowd reaction. Could be a good opener.

Stardust vs Goldust: Thus feud sadly hasn't captured the fans attention like the previous one I mentioned. I'm still hopeful that it can gain some steam going into Mania and become the personal grudge match that it should be. I actually am hoping if it's Goldust's last match that he wrestles as Dustin Rhodes, which given the story makes sense.

One of the biggest detractors for this card is that almost every match happened on the PPV the month before it. When the biggest show of the year is all about building anticipation to huge matches, that doesn't exactly inspire a whole lot of excitement. I get that WrestleMania can be seen as the ending to a lot of feuds, but they've already given away too many of their matches.

Outside of Orton vs. Rollins, I don't look at a single one of those matches and say "this is something I have to see." And they could have done so much better. It's sad.

Here's my best guess before RAW as to what the card will look like with stipulations attached:

1. WHC: Brock Lesnar (c) vs Roman Reigns - No DQ

I think they will add a No DQ stipulation to this title match to allow Reigns and Lesnar more freedom to brawl a bit. It will also help that I think Heyman will feature into the finish of this match somehow. I wouldn't be surprised to see Heyman turn on Lesnar. Reigns will win.

2. HHH vs Sting - Weapons match

They've already shown that both men's iconic weapons will feature into this story and the match. I could see some stipulation where the only legal foreign object is each guy's particular weapon of choice. Sting wins, although I could see this going the other way depending on how the story goes.

3. Bray Wyatt vs Undertaker

I sure hope Wyatt is able to beat Taker so that a young wrestler can have something to gain out of Taker's twilight years. He needs to give somebody a rub and this is a good opportunity for it.

4. Cena vs Rusev - Submission match (maybe?)

Not sure if this one will have a stipulation, but I could see it and have it be a nice touch. Make it Cena's STF vs Rusev's Accolade and it could be a good show. Cena wins by submission with STF.

5. Rollins vs Orton

Rollins comes out looking great in this one by beating Orton definitively. Rollins needs to get ready for his championship run.

6. Goldust vs Stardust - Dusty Rhodes as Spec. guest Referee

Wrap this feud up nicely with the Rhodes brothers feuding with their dad as the referee. That will add an extra little touch to this match that will set it apart from their previous encounter.

7. Ambrose vs Barrett - IC Title - Lumberjacks match

I'll hate this stipulation, but I see it heading this way with Barrett continuing to try to avoid Ambrose. Ambrose wins.

8. Bryan vs Sheamus

If Sheamus doesn't come back soon this becomes Ziggler in his spot. Not a great match, but it should be solid nonetheless.

9. Ziggler vs Big Show w/ Kane

Ziggler deserves to be on the card, but I have no idea where he fits in. Kane turns on Show here for losing to Ziggler. This match could become a battle royal that Ziggler would then win.

10. Kidd & Cesaro vs Rowan & Ryback

The tag division needs some new blood to feud with the new champs. Rowan & Ryback don't have anything to do currently so they could be a good team for Kidd & Cesaro to get their first defense against. Prime candidate for Pre-show match.

11. Nikki Bella vs Natalya vs Naomi - Women's title match

I don't know what to do with this title match, but here it is anyways. Nattie and Naomi seem to be building some kind of tension find a way to work them both into the title match and have them take on Nikki. A Total Divas showdown.

Judging by Raw, it looks like that Dolph Ziggler will be getting involved in the IC title picture. However, it seems like so is R-Truth.

Don't forget about the Andre the giant memorial battle royal. That was the idea right? To be a reacuring theme

I don't see mizdow miz being on the card. They should have light the fuse when miz fired mizdow as the stunt double, I fear this has dragged on to long now and the fans won't be invested by wrestle mania.

Same as dust brothers, they should have had only one match, a fucking insane 5 star match at mania and that should have been it. The fans are not nearly as invested into the story as they would have been a year or even 6 months ago.

Memorial doesn't mean inaugural or annual necessarily.

I understand but I was under the impression that it was to be annual with hogan spouting off about starting new traditions and what not last year.

Don't forget the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Edit: Damn this has already been posted.

But to confirm it is going on again this year, Miz was just talking to Sandow about his participation in the match.
